Lively, Noisy, Good & Healthy Food

We shared a kale salad and a wild rice burger topped with mushrooms, onions, tomato jam, spinach, pickled jalapeno, and chimichurri. The burger held together better than many wild rice ones do and the kaiser roll-type bun was excellent. The kale salad was very tasty, although the kale was not... read more

A beautiful May Day afternoon was spent with happy hour specials; craft beers and delicious pickled herring! Very relaxing patio considering location on a busy street. We did have a long wait for our appetizer, considering they were not at all busy, but it was worth it.

Interesting Noshes on their happy hour menu that were a perfect light bite. I was very surprised by the delicious deviled eggs, which I ordered on a whim.

This place is solidly ok - but as a perhaps confused St. Paulite, I'm confused. Why would people go here when French Meadow Bakery & Cafe is half block away. Common Roots is ok but I'm much more impressed with French Meadow. FM has two large rooms, taller ceilings. Again, nothing wrong with Common Roots - just don't see why... More

Common Roots uses local produce and sustainable practices in their food and beverages. My husband and I ALWAYS order bagels and cream cheese from Common Roots Catering when we host a brunch in our home. This establishment has delicious food, and seasonal menu, and great beers on tap. Stop in for a cafe and bakery treat, or indulge in a... More

Eight of us went here for a team lunch and most of us really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. The menu is small but they have options for vegetarians as well as those needing Gluten-free options. Per usual for an urban coffee shop/café there was art by local artists on the walls for sale that added to the charm... More

We had several really good breakfasts while in the Twin Cities, one of these was at Common Roots Cafe. Not only was the coffee fresh and good, the food was delicious as well. I had the farmers breakfast and the folks at CR where only too happy to accommodate my dietary needs and make a substitution for me (If a... More

When I am in Minneapolis on business I like to take a walk that brings me by Common Roots. This morning I stopped and had a bagel with lox and all of the fixings. And coffee. A great place to enjoy breakfast, read the newspaper and people watch. Looking forward to my next visit.
