Very good but I have a few criticisms

I've been here twice (the most recent, March 2015), and I like it. The menu is fun, with very creative and not solely Mediterranean meals. I have twice had the "figs and foie" starter and it is wonderful--just three small nuggets but oh so rich and sweet. The tagines are good, though I was... read more

specialty cocktails are awesome. The fish and tangines are fab. Appetizers are interesting and great.

We went to Saffron for dinner. The food was good and enjoyable (although they were on the small side for the quality level). What was more of an issue is that the dinner felt like a maximization process for turning the table over to get to the next group. And, our waiters stopped by so much to ask us about... More

We were it town for the Minneapolis food and wine festival and to celebrate my 50th birthday. Out of all the restaurants in town, I chose this one to celebrate based on the reviews, the unique cuisine, and the proximity to our hotel. Several days in advance I made a reservation for 6:15 for 7 people and received a confirmation... More

Dining at Saffron is a lovely experience. The interior is painted brick red, and the space is quite cozy. We have eaten there a number of times. Our last experience was quite typical. If you like craft cocktails, they have an incredibly unique list of choices. I had something called Sophisticated Funk, which was gin mixed with cardamaro – a... More

We had the Tagines that come in cast iron vessels. The seafood Tagines was a medley of root vegetables with trout and a hint of lemon. Very comforting. The lamb shank Tagines was a little saltier but the meat was extremely well cooked. Although stews, the Tagines maintained the texture of the ingredients. Book a table before you go so... More

I've wanted to go here for a while, so I finally nabbed the opportunity for girls night. Five of us met for 6:00 supper and the place was busy but not packed. Noise level is moderate but we could still have pleasant conversation. Even though it was Restaurant Week, we decided to forego the special menu and instead sample bits... More

The Branzini was one of the best dishes I have ever had and I have eaten a lot of fish in a lot of different countries. Thank you.

We've been to Saffron a few times but felt this recent experience to be lacking. The menu options seemed quite limited. We ordered the lamb tangine and gnocchi along with cauliflower and Beef Kubbeh apps. The apps were good but we felt lacked some of the great flavors experienced in the past. The lamb tangine was ok but the portion... More

Saffron restaurant lifts Mediterranean / North-African cuisine to a gourmet level, with subtle play on classic Mediterranean ingredients and North-African spice combinations. The hotness level is moderate, but the aromatic spice combinations are sublime. The decor is modern, with clean and colorful lines. The service is prompt and expert. Many unique flavor combinations point to a chef who is experimenting... More
