Staff and chef kudos

We dined in the last 2 weeks they were open. Staff was superb- best trained professional wait staff in the city. Food was unique, creative and delicious. Truly an experience. Will miss the restaurant but will see these professionals at the next venue.

We are there the last week they were open and got a great demonstration if why they are closing. The food is small, expensive and boring. The wine pours generous,, but the wines were boring. Add in the stuffy atmosphere and astronomical prices and you have know why they closed.

I travelled to Minneapolis from California hoping to find a great romantic restaurant to dine at. The place exceeded my expectation and so did the menu. We decided to go for the best meal which was the Chef's Tasting Menu. Our server was fabulous and helped us with our wine pairing. Let's just say we closed the place down and... More

I don't know what more could be said about this fabulous place but here's my two cents. Short version: No reason to wait for a special occasion. Get the tasting menu you can afford, sit back and enjoy your evening. Long version: I was in town visiting my friend who just started her Masters program and to celebrate my birthday.... More

Two of the best meals I've had were at La Belle Vie. When we learned of the closing we called for reservations. Getting through was impossible. We took a chance. Arriived shortly after 5. The place was packed. Nothing open. We signed up and walked across the street to the Walker Art Center. We returned and got a table for... More

Even with the restaurant closing soon, the entire staff was wonderful , from the greeter, to the waiter, David, to the rest of the wait staff and the kitchen. Excellent wine and Tasting menu. I am sad to see it closing, but know wherever the staff ends up, it will provide more opportunities for wonderful meals in the Twin Cities.

Award-winning La Belle Vie restaurant in Minneapolis closing By Nancy Ngo Posted: 10/08/2015 12:01:00 AM CDT Updated: 10/08/2015 08:45:27 PM CDT After 17 years, James Beard award-winning chef Tim McKee is permanently turning off the lights at his acclaimed La Belle Vie restaurant in Minneapolis' Loring Park neighborhood. I love La Belle Vie! My girlfriend and I have celebrated our birthdays here numerous times. It's the best French restaurant I've been to outside of France. The food and the wine selection are outstanding! The decor is beautiful and elegant, whether you're in the dining room or bar. I've had the tasting menu as well as the a la... More

The restaurant is very expensive. The food was good but not great. The entire time i was reminded of a certain Gordon Ramsey Kitchen Nightmares episode... The food was tasty but pretentious and obsolete. Pure 90's. The service was excellent as was the ambiance of the restaurant. It was quiet since it was not very busy but then again it... More

My wife and I went to La Belle Vie for a special occasion. We started with some seasonal cocktails in the bar / lounge room, which were very good. If you want, you can get food in the lounge as well, and there's even a special tasting menu specific for the lounge vs. the main dining room. We had reservations... More
