We walked to the Loring Pasta Bar after moving our daughter into the U of MN. They were quite busy and our waiter informed us that they didn't expect the busyness on a Monday and they were somewhat understaffed. He was very apologetic. Despite this, the service was excellent! The kitchen is in the middle of the restaurant so you... More

The food was wonderful. they offer a full bar, the service was both timely and friendly, but what's most memora ble is how they converted an lod drug store to now look like a trip into an "Alice in Wonderland" set. Sit in the balcony and your eye wil lconstantly find something new and captivating in this place.

Stopped for a dinner a couple of days ago. Ordered Lamb Loins with Risotto and Warm Beef Salad. Had to send the salad back as neither one of us was able to chew thru the steak, we actually had to spit the shreds of beef out (sorry for the details). Lamb was overcooked, risotto was too salty and dry. Service... More

This is a great spot on the University of Minnesota campus Dinkytown area with sidewalk tables and a funky interior, but the food is really the main attraction. We had lunch here with another couple. I had the Portabella Mushroom Ravioli with tomato and corn salsa, double smoked ham and it was fantastic. One of the best pasta dishes I've... More

We had dinner here with friends who were at the university. It is located next to the University of Minnesota and seems to be a popular place. We all had pasta dishes: butternut squash and sage butter risotto, orecchiette with green beans and mushroom, fettuccine Carbonara and portobello mushroom ravioli. All were prepared well and were tasty. We did not... More

Not a huge fan of the service. We did a lot of waiting, and the place was not very busy in my opinion. The food was very good. Cocktails were good too! When they were getting ready to start the salsa for the night, it was kind of a joke. The way our waitress handled approaching us was really off.... More

I went here for lunch with a friend and sat outside as it was a great day. The food was good - solid and reasonably priced - and the service was pretty good. The best part is that the windows on the entire east side of the restaurant were open, bringing the outdoors in. It's one of the more pleasant... More

The food at The Loring Pasta Bar is excellent! The Margherita cracker crust pizza (appetizer) had a crisp crust and perfect texture to the tomatoes. The Seafood (with black ink) spaghetti had plenty of tasty seafood - clams, muscles, shrimp and scallops. The saffron cream sauce was perfect. The Cheese Tortellini Nuovi - complete with prosciutto and pine nuts in... More

The marinara was mostly water, the carbonara was just alfredo sauce. On the other hand, Beer was good and there was a really hot blond waitress.

The atmosphere at this place is great fun. The music was live, and added a jazzy feel. Service was a bit slow, but the food itself was delicious. The tuna was made exactly as requested, as were all the other meals. Food presentation was excellent. Dessert, as advertised, was fabulous. This was especially true about the chocolate cake. Oddly however,... More
