I ordered Steak au poivre as did one of my friends. The steak was prepared perfectly. The plating was unimaginative and confusing. All in a pile...tiny asparagus on the bottom, followed by "not quite cooked" potatoes (some potatoes were still crunchy), followed by the steak. The blueberry demi-glase was on the bottom of it all. This should have been separate... More

My husband and I live seven minutes from the IDS Building which houses Basil's restaurant. Needless to say we dine there frequently because of its proximity, but there are many restaurants nearby. When family and friends visit, we take them to Basil's, and they always ask to return to Basil's when they come back. Basil's has the best food in... More

Went with my husband after reading various reviews and recommendations. Lovely atmosphere, attentive staff and excellent meal. We both loved it. My husband and the pork chop and said it was the best meal at a restaurant in recent memory. I had they walleye and it was wonderfully prepared and presented. Without hesitation we would recommend.

We spent a special overnight in Minneapolis to see a play. It was pretty hot out, but with spring taking it's time to arrive, we longed to eat outdoors although we did not want to dine at the street cafes. We stayed at the Hilton, but walked over to the Marquette to Basil's to have a lovely dinner. Ounce we... More

We had bought a groupon for this place which saved us a lot of money! The breakfast was awesome! I got an omelet which was huge and delicious! I couldn't finish it! My husband had a breakfast platter with pancakes and eggs etc. The pancakes were delicious! The restaurant seated us outside on a balcony type thing overlooking a part... More

This was a winter visit and much of the downtown (skywalk) restaurants in the area close around 7 pm. I ended up eating here by accident. I had the pear, walknut steak salad without the steak, and with salmon instead. Really fabulous and light...highly recommended.

We made a late reservation as the unclement weather changed our plans the staff was very easy to work with and it went sky high from there. The food (fixed menu) was delicious with a terrific presentation. Our waiter really deserved the $50 tip. She was fun, provided great detailed information and ran multiple times to kitchen to answer questions.... More

Very nice place overlooking the IDS center interior. Ordered the jambalaya and was extremely happy with it. One of the best I've had, with not too much rice, just the right amount of spiciness, tender shrimp, tasty sausage, fresh mussels. Surprisingly good for a midwest restaurant. The wine list, not so much. But hey, you can't have everything!

My husband and I visited Basil's on Saturday October 19. We also had a living social certificate. By using the certificate we felt like we were treated like second class citizens. From the minute we sat down we were pretty much ignored by our waiter. He barely checked on us during the entire meal. Plus service was extremely slow and... More
