Description: Entering its third decade, the Dakota has long been a favorite of jazz legends as well as patrons who savor the best of both art forms, the virtuosity of kitchen and bandstand. You can eat in the dining room and enjoy music second-hand from the adjacent club room; but you can also enjoy the music in the intimate club while making selections from either the bar or dining room menu—the best of both worlds. Patrons must note that online reservations through OpenTable apply to the dining room only. For show information and club reservations please call.

Tucked away in an office tower on Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis this is the place to go for jazz and all things that are music. Acts have included national artists from Pat Metheny, to Chic Corea, to Chares Lloyd, to Tower of Power, to local favorites like Nachito Herrera, Davina and the Vagabonds, and the Steele family. The food... More

We made reservations for a upstairs seating to see Sonny Knight and the Lakers (awesome!!) and we were pleased that we could see the stage so easily despite another couple at the table in front of us. The menu offers a variety of interesting choices and while some ingredients/combinations may sound unusual to people, we've never been unhappy with our... More

Squash soup, house salad, scallops, and beef short ribs. All were fantastic which makes me believe you could order anything on the menu and not be disappointed. Salad was like none i have ever had. Brought us the wrong dessert, charged us for it, but it was very good. Did not give the perk to us for buying on Black... More

The Dakota is an upscale restaurant and music club (mostly jazz but some variety) in downtown Minneapolis on Nicollet Mall. When my friend and I visited we were seated in the balcony right in front of the stage. Great seats! Cover charges vary from $12.00 to $30 or more depending on the band. They have great acts from the Bad... More

This is an amazing venue for jazz. we went for New Year's to hear local legend Davina and the Vagabonds and were blown away by the intimate venue and the great music. We had a cheese plate and a pork terrine which was excellent and not too pricey. The drinks are good and reasonably priced; ask the server for recommendations.... More

We have been to the Dakota several times - and enjoy it every time. The music is above average, and the atmosphere is wonderful. Not all tables have a good "site line" - so, be careful when you buy tickets - check out the seating charts first. Wait staff is friendly. If you are in Minneapolis, it is worth the... More

We wanted to have dinner and a show for my husband's birthday. We saw Lisa Fischer for $55 per ticket but unknown to us we were seated with another couple at our table for four. We were not told this before the show. We had ordered dinner already. After the show was over ,we were basically told to get out... More

This was a second opportunity to dine at the Dakota Jazz Club. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was nice. We arrived early due to a concert the evening we were dining. Fortunately, the duo were finalizing a sound check and we were able to hear a few songs. They sounded great and the concert was going to be... More

First time visiting here for dinner and a concert, I was initially a little confused as to the will-call ticketing process. We learned that we had to check in at a little table set up inside the Target building lobby, rather than at the street entrance to the club, and then wait in that crowded lobby until the early show... Sassy cocktails, excellent dishes, charming servers, and headliner music? Yes PLEASE! Bring a date, go home hand in hand. If you're not there to see the show, dine upstairs and you'll hear it without intruding on your dinner conversation. Fine if you're taking kids, too. The non-alcoholic beverages are as tasty as everything else they create.
