Description: Entering its third decade, the Dakota has long been a favorite of jazz legends as well as patrons who savor the best of both art forms, the virtuosity of kitchen and bandstand. You can eat in the dining room and enjoy music second-hand from the adjacent club room; but you can also enjoy the music in the intimate club while making selections from either the bar or dining room menu—the best of both worlds. Patrons must note that online reservations through OpenTable apply to the dining room only. For show information and club reservations please call.

While on a business trip, I decided to go into the Dakota on a whim. I got an evening of very good food and great entertainment. But don't eat and run. The best part of the evening was a group called Divina and the Vagabonds. They play Dixieland jazz like no one you've heard. The lead has a voice very... More

Following the Twins game, my friend and I headed over to the Dakota for an early dinner. It had a great "jazzy" decor and I like how the menu was presented (in a "record"). The plate portions were just enough so that one could get through an appetizer, entree and dessert if they chose to. My friend and I started... More

We enjoyed a great evening of jazz and blues at the Dakota. We made reservations for dinner and show by telephone the day we attended. However, we were out-of-towners and were given a terrible table. Once we were seated, we requested a better table, and they gave us one in the balcony! The food and drinks were good, but the... More

I had a terrific meal while listening to three hours of great rockabilly music played by Pat Donahue & the Prairie All-stars. They play every Monday at the Dakota. The chef has some very creative dishes including the Spring pea panna cotta and the Lemon Icebox Pie (not your grandmother's pie).

This is a gem! Great shows in an intimate space really gives you a bang for your buck. Fair warning on this place....you can encounter very down-to-earth staff and very uppity staff so bring your sense of humor for the uppity folk. They are in continual trial and error mode with their menu. Typically the quality is good and the... More

I was in town for a business trip and was able to dine at Dakotas the night Irv Williams was playing. The music and food was wonderful, albeit it came with a $7 per person cover charge since Irv was playing. I don't think the cover charge was advertised on their monthly 'upcoming musicians' list. Perhaps that would be helpful... More

My wife and I went here for a fun night away from home, looking to combine some relaxation and entertainment. We were not disappointed with our experience. While the menu is somewhat limited and prices a little on the high side, the quality of what we were served was quite good. My wife had the grilled pork and I the... More

This is a very good room for music in Downtown Minneapolis. Visited for the first time on January 29, 2014 to see the Willie Nile and band. The service was very attentive and the food was good. The atmosphere was excellent. The band seemed impressed with the venue and their performance was exceptional. Many people do not know his music... More

What a great place! Music outstanding. Seating up close and personal with the artists. Usually just have cocktails, but have had dinner, salads and beef. Good. Love the music and environment.

The music here requires a separate review but one goes to hear their favorite musicians. Last night was no exception - with great "Sultry Divas" music. Here I am reviewing the dinner menu which was a fixed 5-course menu. Typically, feeding an entire restaurant the same food can be tricky. Here the food was absolutely fabulous. It was imaginative (fois... More
