Description: Entering its third decade, the Dakota has long been a favorite of jazz...
Entering its third decade, the Dakota has long been a favorite of jazz legends as well as patrons who savor the best of both art forms, the virtuosity of kitchen and bandstand. You can eat in the dining room and enjoy music second-hand from the adjacent club room; but you can also enjoy the music in the intimate club while making selections from either the bar or dining room menu—the best of both worlds. Patrons must note that online reservations through OpenTable apply to the dining room only. For show information and club reservations please call.

Excellent Venue

We saw Tom Paxton and Janis Ian here for a memorable, incredibly moving concert. The acoustics are fine. We only had a glass of wine and a desert. The Pineapple cake was very attractive, even if there was not much cake.

While the jazz is incredibly entertaining, the food is less than par. 1st off, as a customer with a gluten free allergy, I found the menu very frustrating. Nothing is noted about allergens on the menu, and one must ask the staff to clarify the appropriate menu items. This can take awhile with the number of items on the menu!... More

The service was decent, but the food was a bit disappointing. We pretty much just ate the fries, and the rest was crap. Which was pretty terrible because my friend and I were starving after coming from La Belle Vie, where the food was basically a tiny dot on a giant white plate. The music was not impressive or unique... More

Made reservations to see Davina and the Vagabonds (wow, what an incredible band!) and have a little dinner. The service was fine, and the food was very good and pretty well-priced. I was a little disappointed at the miniscule size of the sea bass portion, but it was terrific, as was my wife's salmon. The food selection was broad, with... More

We come here often for the entertainment. The Dakota offers a stellar range and you can often meet the musicians afterwards. The views from 3/4 of the seats is superb. I rate the music part a 5 star. The food is somewhat hit and miss. Every new chef wants to put their mark on the food and the current one... More

Great place to enjoy fabulous music and good food! We have listened to internationally renowned jazz bands as well as local trios - always a good time! Wings are really good but we ALWAYS get a basket of french fries - excellent with or without the sauce! Cheers!

Lovely place to enjoy a good live jazz band and have a drink or two, I did order food from the menu. but the service was excellent, fast and friendly. I will definitely come back to try the food and enjoy another live jazz show.

We had a fabulous meal! Although the menu was small, everything we ordered was amazing! We even had someone with dietary restrictions, and they accomodated us with no problem! We are coming back next month to celebrate another birthday! It's a 6 hhour trip, so you know it was definitely delicious!

The Dakota is a destination for National and International Jazz acts. I have been in New York City chatting with band members that consider the Dakota the finest club in the country! While Jazz is what the Dakota has built its reputation on, Blues, Country, some rock and soul are all well represented throughout the year. Better local acts make... More

Tucked away in an office tower on Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis this is the place to go for jazz and all things that are music. Acts have included national artists from Pat Metheny, to Chic Corea, to Chares Lloyd, to Tower of Power, to local favorites like Nachito Herrera, Davina and the Vagabonds, and the Steele family. The food... More
