Description: Entering its third decade, the Dakota has long been a favorite of jazz legends as well as patrons who savor the best of both art forms, the virtuosity of kitchen and bandstand. You can eat in the dining room and enjoy music second-hand from the adjacent club room; but you can also enjoy the music in the intimate club while making selections from either the bar or dining room menu—the best of both worlds. Patrons must note that online reservations through OpenTable apply to the dining room only. For show information and club reservations please call.

The Dakota is an upscale restaurant and music venue featuring jazz as well as other types of music. I thought the menu and wine list were both excellent. The price is very reasonable for the quality of food and service received. A must visit for any music lovers visiting Minneapolis.

Great (and smooth) jazz, leisurely dinning, and wonderful food. Soup was inspired. Scallops the best I've had inland. Desserts impressed the gourmet cook in our group. Definitely recommend!

Great atmosphere...great music... I ate dinner twice . Saturday night and Monday night . The oysters were amazing, the drinks were great and the bar scene and bartenders were superb. On my second visit I ordered the oysters again only to be told after I ordered them that they were out. Huge disappointment. I opted for the dip platter which... More

Have had many nice experiences at Dakota; this was even better than others. Prompt, courteous and unobtrusive service (whoever waited on us at table 238 on Sept 11 should get some praise), with some subtle wine recommendations. The rainbow trout was the best I've had in decades; with some light smoky overtones. Really like the idea of being able to... More

We had tickets to see a 'headliner' so we decided to go early for dinner. Wow - totally underwhelmed. The $28 pork tenderloin main course had two small medallions of pork, lentils, carrots and a bit of sweet potato puree - really? $28?? Almost sent it back to ask if it was a starter. Mussels - $14 for a bowl... More

Ok, so it was a Tuesday night and not much was happening anywhere in town.... yet... a neat little jazz band was on staff and floating riffs around the venue to the delight o the small but engaged crowd. Service was fine and the music was A1 with drinks nice as well... The setting could be a bit more smokey,... More

The Dakota Jazz Club is a really cool, swanky little place that's some what disguised on Nicollet Avenue in Downtown MPLS. I went there for the first time for a show and it was amazing! The atmosphere was great, and the staff was fabulous. The one draw back is that there aren't a ton of food options, and not a... More

My wife and I love live music, but far too often the food is overpriced and just this side of serviceable. Dakota is a pleasant exception. Probably the premier jazz venue in the Twin Cities, we go there for the music. The food, however, would stand on its own. On a recent visit, we shared mussels and fries - the... More

I can not rant about this place enough!! I did a little research to find musics venues near my hotel (Hyatt). The website gave links to the artist's music and videos. I excitedly planned to see Davina and the Vagabonds. The website said the cover charge was $15 but I could not reserve a ticket/seat online and I couldn't figure out... More

My wife and I went on a beautiful Monday night to this "jazz" club and restaurant and were terribly disappointed. First, the live entertainment was folk and not very good folk. Thankfully we didn't pay the cover to sit in the live room but opted for the restaurant. There was only one other table with customers but it took a... More
