We were visiting Minneapolis to attend a University of Minneapolis Gophers game-which was a blast. We finished our day visiting Nye's. There are 2 sides-piano side and polka side. We stayed on the polka bar side and had so much fun. Loved the atmosphere, the beer, people and particularly the polka band. I would go back in a heart beat.... More

We went here for my mom's birthday on a Wednesday night. While Nye's has been around for many years, I had never eaten at it. My mom had visited a number of times years ago... so it was time to go. Nye's is scheduled to be torn down... if the owners get their way in a fight with neighborhood historians...... More

Went there Saturday night for my birthday "night-cap". It was SUPER crowded. We went to the bar and couldn't move. Had a vodka & tonic - just under $7 and then the bartender took the extra change - so $10. Not impressed with that, at all. Anyway, the best part was the 3-piece polka band - old-school and fun. Just... More

We only went there because they are closing down. We came in about 4:15 and the bartender had not even shown up for work yet. We did order drinks and apps. The food was good, but pricey. Drink prices were high. The bathrooms are in need of major remodeling. You can see why they wanted to sell out and run.... More

Decided to give this a try since it's going away. The polish specialities are very good to excellent if you like this kind of food. We had a Polish sampler that was terrific. We also had a chicken dish that was unusual, lots of vegies. Huge piece of carrot cake. Watch out for parking. There is a small lot that... More

Every time we are back in Minneapolis we try to make a stop into Nye's. When we lived in Minneapolis, it was the restaurant we took visiting friends. The menu is variety of polish food, prices are good and we have always enjoyed our meals. If you've already had dinner, do not hesitate to stop in for a cocktail or... More

This treasure in Nordeast has announced it will be closing by next fall. The owners didn't keep the fun going and it started to slow down. When it slowed down they cut back on hours and it slowed down again. They feel it has to stay true to the roots and the food is great. Lotsa stuff on the menu... More

Unfortunately a cornerstone on Northeast Minneapolis is scheduled to close next year. I do hope anyone who has ever even remotely had interest in the place stops in to this quirky, old-style supper-club with the bar attached. Piano bar, polka lounge, a spritz of polish foods and excellent drinks it's sad to see it go. If you have the chance,... More

It is official, this Minneapolis dining and drinking institution is closing! In my review of a year ago, I forecasted it would be just a matter if time before the wrecking ball would arrive and the land redeveloped; because that is where the monetary value would be realized by this establishment's owners! Hurry...for one Last Hurrah!

I went with a few friends. They wanted us to sit in the bar area by the front door on a very cold afternoon unless we ordered dinner. We decided to get dinner an were seated as requested. The server was very nice and helpful; the food just so- so. They were the worst scalloped potatoes I have had but... More
