Landed at MSP airport and needed some breakfast/lunch before hitting the road back to Iowa… using the mobile app, I searched Near Me Now and breakfast… Al's Breakfast popped up. The reviews mentioned it was a small place… there would be a wait.. and the food was worth it. All points were true! It was below freezing, but I waited... More

We came here on a weekday and it was crowded. Great food (ok, if you are committed to eating healthy all the time, then don't come here), excellent coffee, nice/friendly waitstaff...the pancakes are like a dessert, try one even if just to share with your neighbor. There is nothing bad on the menu. Word has it Dinkytown is on the... More

Everything about this place is unique. My wife and I got there about 10:30 am Sunday. It was packed but we squeezed our way in. She asked if we should stay. I said 'how could we not!' Glad we did. Great food (Jose with a short stack of blueberry pancake). A true experience in sight, sound and taste.

Always great food. Always big huge line. It is amazing how people forget the concept for personal space and all that urban things. The point is: the food is so good! Healthy! Fresh! Best thing is: You can get out with your tummy full with palatable breakfast within $10 bucks.

We read reviews prior to going, so we knew there are only 18 stools and you stand in line behind them to wait your turn. The place is only about 11 feet wide by 50 feet deep and is a "fixture" in Dinkytown near the U of M campus. It's loud, but friendly, and the menu is varied. We had... More

Best blueberry pancakes I have ever eaten. Add some rye toast and some scrambled eggs and coffee and you got a scrumptious breakfast with students and families and singles in a really funky but fun atmosphere.

Al's Breakfast is an experience. As a Minneapolis staple and a place that has overcome many threats of shutdown over the years, it has remained resilient and long-standing and still a favorite among locals and visitors. I take all of my visitors to Al's Breakfast. It's a very small diner, so you have to understand the etiquette before even arriving.... More

The pancakes are good, though not great, and if you are or have ever been a New Yorker, you will be impressed by the extremely slow service. But it's a fun experience nevertheless as you get to observe a slice of Minneapolis life while waiting an hour or so in line, looking at the kitsch decorations, and eavesdropping on a... More

My wife and I asked our college age daughter where to have breakfast after we dropped off supplies this morning. She told us about Al's and we were on our way. Finding it was easy. We had to wait for seats, which meant we got to stand behind the 14 people who were eating. The staff was friendly, and got... More

I had heard about this place and I finally got an opportunity to check it out for myself. Well, not much to it. I was fortunate in that there was a stool open at the counter. There are only 14 of them and if you miss out, you have to stand behind someone until they are done eating. Anyway, the... More
