Butcher and Boar has excellent food, specifically the sausage sampler. The service can be spotty however when they are busy.
Delicious dinner with friends started with stuffed jalepenos-different but tasty! I had the sausage sampler-very good, enough to share with a group. The long-rib was the favorite of the group-fall off the bone meat, again enough for two. Lamb was good! Pork chop was OK. We shared sides--battered French fries, red hot brussel sprouts and sweet potatoes. +1bottle of wine... More
When you walk up to the Butcher & The Boar for the first time, you probably wouldn't think much of it. Some restaurant situated next to another bar, I suppose, right? Wrong. I'd heard about Butcher & The Boar long before my initial trip to Minneapolis, and I made it my mission on my second trip to the area to... More
I know that they are a beard award winner for food, but for attitude this place is horrible. Chorizo was really good. Salmon overcooked and salty. Lobster virtually tasteless. Wait staff horrible really doing you a favor taking your order and the padding was so obvious is was almost embarrassing For anyone whether you live in Mpls or just visiting there... More
Be ready to shout at your tablemates. It is too loud. Food was good but not exceptional. Glad I tried it but I probably won't go back.
This place is hopping… it seems that it opened like 2 years ago, but it is still busy. Great place to enjoy some yummy drinks and then share plates with friends. The meats are amazing… don't be afraid, try a lot!
The food was decent - the alaskan halibut was good (not the best I have had, but decent enough), and the mussels tasty. But what made my recent dining experience at Butcher and the Boar so disappointing was the service. Ok, I did arrive late - at about 10:45 pm. But I was told that the kitchen was open til... More
Expensive but worth it. There are so many delicious game meats on the menu. We ordered so many kinds it's hard to remember which was best. Make your reservations well in advance as it's a small place and fills up quickly.
Well, with a name like "Butcher and Boar" it should be no surprise that the menu is heavy on meats (with a few offerings from the sea.) Sides are ordered separately and our waitress encouraged us to consider sharing 'family style.' A friend and I split our order (getting one of the smallest steaks on the menu.) I have to... More
My wife and I recently went for a birthday dinner, and were happy with dinner. We had the pork chop and lobster grilled cheese. we also had fried green tomatoes, wedge salad, stuffed japs, and red hot brussels. Everything was good. My pork chop had a large amount of grizzle, and this was hopefully just a bad cut. Unfortunate, but... More
