Exceptional food, excellent service

I love restaurants, and have been to a number that possess Michelin stars, James Beard awards or nods, and seek out exceptional food when I travel. I love restaurants, and have been to a number that possess Michelin stars, James Beard awards or nods, and seek out exceptional food when I travel. I decided to try the Bachelor Farmer because of its James Beard nominations, and because its menu was striking in its rotation (based on what's fresh) each week and the kinds of foods they... More

I have wanted to try this place forever. So last spring after we hit Marvel Bar we decided to try to get a table. As luck would have it, they could seat us...which probably should've been the first clue we were in for a spot of trouble. After we plugged our meters again, we reconvened and were seated; only then... More

a coworker and I were in town for business and looking for a place to eat. I looked up some reviews and decided to eat here one of the nights we were here. When we first walked in and looked at the menu, I was a little skeptical. The menu had limited choices and it was expensive. However, that feeling... More

My friend and I ate at Bachelor Farmer restaurant last night. I had Alaskan Halibut, fresh and tasty. My friend had sweet corn toast appetizer thing, it was nice. Servings were small and expensive.

Very expensive (over $100 for 2 with 1 cocktail, 2 toasts, 2 entrees, and 2 desserts). + Tip It is a must at least once. Cool place owned by the Dayton boys.

This came recommended highly by executive friends so, we've been excited to try it- We were disappointed from the first encounter at the bar to dessert. They do not offer a Chardonnay by the glass. They had many other options but for a restaurant of this type, a common Chardonnay by the glass is not an option. They offer a Chablis,... More

We didn't have a reservation but lucked out and got the best seat in the house, the red booth in the bar area. We shared a dish and had a few cocktails. The staff is very good and attentive.

Went here as a party of four. Booked about 2 months in advance. There were about 16 total menu items, including appetizers, toasts, and mains. We tried almost all of them! The toasts were good, the bib lettuce salad was good. The mains were just OK. The Halibut was a bit dry. The lamb was very salty. I feel they... More

The owner of the best restaurant in my small home town said the one place my wife and I should be sure to go in downtown Minneapolis is Bachelor Farmer, which meant reserving months in advance - which we did. Surprisingly, it was the only disappointment of the six restaurants we sampled in our week's stay. Service was satisfactory, though... More

This is with no doubt a creative outlet for chefs serving up tasty dishes. This is not Scandinavian cooking, it is Nordic cuisine - a movement to use local fresh ingredients. Not sure with that in mind how the halibut ended up on the menu. This is a place for foodies. The decor is certainly Scandinavian. Cool place. Great service.... More
