Better than the fish and chips I had in Dublin

The place is amazing. Easily the best fish and chips I've had in a long time. Their reputation precedes them and it is true. There is also a nice selection of Irish beers on draft. Be warned the place is not huge so there could be a wait especially with a larger party. A party of two can sit... read more

I first came here some years back with a friend from England who loves the place. Limited menu that has a couple of British/Irish offerings. This place gets consistent rave reviews about their fish and chips. Not being a fish person, I go for the shepherd's pie. I chuckled when my friend and her sister ordered mushy peas, not something... I visit the UK a couple of times a year, most recently this January where I had a craving at several pubs for Fish and Chips. Anchor serves Fish and Chips as good as the UK without the airfare! As outlined is several reviews the combination of batter and frying temperature is an art that they have mastered. Chips (fries)... More

We first discovered Anchor Fish and Chips because they were advertised in the Northeast Minneapolis Art-A-Whirl. During the Art-A-Whirl they were very busy, with a live band in the parking lot. It can also be busy at weekend meals and evenings with a bar crowd. During the Art-A-Whirl, I was able to get Fish and Chips as a takeout. It... More

I saw this on the Food Network’s show $24 in 24 from a couple of years ago and were finally able to make it to NE Minneapolis. Lots of parking on the street yet inside it was busy which led me to believe this is a neighborhood treasure. Saturday for lunch and their limited menu means easy ordering, and a... More

We tried the fish and chips at their truck this summer at the uptown food truck fair. I'm glad we did. We have been to the restaurant 3 times and it's always great. It's a hole in the wall store but the food is well worth it. The fries are always good too. We will be back many times.

Maybe the best fish & chips in the USA. No call ahead reservations, but well worth the wait. The burger with Irish cheese is also very good.

We have dined three times in the last three months at the Anchor. Each time we ask ourselves, what took us so long? The fish is perfectly cooked and the environment is friendly and lively, with excellent service. You may have to wait for a table, but the meals are cooked and expedited to assure a rapid turnover. The chips... More

I'm very picking when it comes to fish and chips places having lived in Canada and traveled to the UK often. The cod is wonderful, the batter is nice and thin. The french fries are very good. Bonus is that they have white vinegar on hand and I love the gravy for the fries too (I ask for it on... More

Nice friendly local eatery. Not fancy. Very crowded not much seating inside. Bar and grill atmosphere. The fish was great large portion crisp not at all greasy. Steak fries served. Only serves wine and beer. Fast and friendly service.
