Went for dinner on a weeknight. If you don't know what you are looking for, you will miss this place. In a revialized area of Nordeast Minneapolis. Very unassuming interior. Appreciate that the menu is small - I feel with fewer choices there is less of a chance for the cooks to mess up. Not... read more

If you love fish and chips, just go. It is a down to earth, probably have to wait in line kind of place. One of my favorites. The best fish and chips in the Twin Cities. The chips are the thick potato fries. So, if you are looking for the skinny, crispy things stay away. Depending upon the time of... More

We went here for the fish fry last Friday night. We are in search of the best fish fry in the Twin Cities..in our opinion anyway. This food was awesome. It's a small place and very busy on the night we went. We got there after 9 PM and still had a 20 minute wait. We ate at the front... More

Liked the looks of their website. Also the restaurant is located in an area that needs a good restaurant (although the Modern is wonderful and very close by) and from the outside it looked promising (plus next door is a coffee shop called Maeve which adds its own charm). We were at the Anchor right when it opened on a... More

The place is amazing. Easily the best fish and chips I've had in a long time. Their reputation precedes them and it is true. There is also a nice selection of Irish beers on draft. Be warned the place is not huge so there could be a wait especially with a larger party. A party of two can sit at... More

I first came here some years back with a friend from England who loves the place. Limited menu that has a couple of British/Irish offerings. This place gets consistent rave reviews about their fish and chips. Not being a fish person, I go for the shepherd's pie. I chuckled when my friend and her sister ordered mushy peas, not something... I visit the UK a couple of times a year, most recently this January where I had a craving at several pubs for Fish and Chips. Anchor serves Fish and Chips as good as the UK without the airfare! As outlined is several reviews the combination of batter and frying temperature is an art that they have mastered. Chips (fries)... More

We first discovered Anchor Fish and Chips because they were advertised in the Northeast Minneapolis Art-A-Whirl. During the Art-A-Whirl they were very busy, with a live band in the parking lot. It can also be busy at weekend meals and evenings with a bar crowd. During the Art-A-Whirl, I was able to get Fish and Chips as a takeout. It... More

I saw this on the Food Network’s show $24 in 24 from a couple of years ago and were finally able to make it to NE Minneapolis. Lots of parking on the street yet inside it was busy which led me to believe this is a neighborhood treasure. Saturday for lunch and their limited menu means easy ordering, and a... More

We tried the fish and chips at their truck this summer at the uptown food truck fair. I'm glad we did. We have been to the restaurant 3 times and it's always great. It's a hole in the wall store but the food is well worth it. The fries are always good too. We will be back many times.
