Sen Yai Sen Lek is one of my favorite places to be. The atmosphere is wonderful, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the food is great. The food is also wonderful. A lot goes into the preparation, and I've never had a bad dish there! The curry specials are particularly great, that and the infamous Khao Soi! I love... More

Sure, the décor, along with the beer and wine selection is lacking personality, but that is easily overlooked when the food is great, which I'm sorry to say, it wasn't. I honestly can't even say it was 'good'. The appetizer was the best dish served to us (fish cakes); the relish to pile on the cake was good, but the... More

Stylish decor, fantastic food (thoughtfully sourced by first-rate suppliers), excellent service: What a great addition to the Twin Cities restaurant scene. One block up is Holy Land, an excellent spot for lunch, and the surrounding area is loaded with good restaurants. If visiting, it's worth the trip. It's not far from downtown Minneapolis, maybe a 15 minutes by taxi, straight... More

My husband and I visited this restaurant for the first time tonight and couldn't be more satisfied. It is an attractive, clean, and well-lighted restaurant decorated in bright colors with interesting personal photos on the walls. Our waitress, Caitlin, was stellar, patiently and clearly explaining the unfamiliar dishes. We shared two appetizers: Po Pia Pod and Po Pia Sod. Both... More

I was visiting my daughter in Minneapolis and she suggested going out for Thai. We parked in front of a Thai Restaurant, but it was NOT the one she meant. Sen Yai Sen Lek was across the street. It is basically two store fronts joined together by an interior door. 2 dining rooms with a bar in one. The waitstaff... More

We had dinner at this establishment on a Friday night. I had the Beef Pad Panang that was outstanding. They also provide garnishes that I really liked including tasty but hot thai green chiles. Spring rolls were very good and I had a pale ale on draft that finished it all off. This was the top-rated Thai place close to... More

I have had a few lunches with colleagues at Sen Yai Sen Lek and the service wasn't memorably bad and the food was always solidly good and unique among Thai in this area. The attention to flavors and quality of ingredients is obvious. They tout their commitment to sourcing food fresh and locally and it shows. That makes it hard... More

We went on Saturday night. I got the green curry special for the evening and am just now finishing my leftovers. So good! My only complaint is, this time, our service wasn't so great. The waitress seemed distracted by her friends at the bar. She forgot our spring rolls until I said something when she brought out our entrees. She... More

I want Sen Yai Sen Lek to succeed - a locally owned restaurant in an emerging neighborhood. But the service is very slow and part of the reason is that the host had no expertise in how to seat people. Putting couples at tables that seat four then having no place to seat four-tops is not smart and is Hosting... More

Love the flavor and authenticity of the entrees, but may not work for those that expect “Americanized” Thai. Service is good, not great. The atmosphere is OK, not great as a lot of guests in somewhat tight quarters (thus little privacy and lots of traffic walking around your table). Ownership is committed to sustainable and local practices, so you feel... More
