Best bread pudding ever

I started out with a ham and cheese croissant and finished off with the most decadent, rich, comforting piece of bread pudding. I started out with a ham and cheese croissant and finished off with the most decadent, rich, comforting piece of bread pudding. I read the chef bio hanging in a display case and learned that this bakery is owned by a woman named Michelle Gayer who has the Chicago-famous Charlie Trotters on her resume. I love the deserts here. They are so delicious. I live in the neighborhood, so I am able to visit as often as I please! The prices are a little expensive, but well worth the price! I promise! Yummmmmmmmmmm

I had heard of this bakery from watching Unique Sweets on the Cooking Channel. So when we were in town, I had to try it out. We had tried the Chocolate Salted Carmel Tartlette. It was good, but rich since it was made with dark chocolate. We also tried the coconut macaroons which were chewy and delicious. We also tried... More

When I was a little girl, my babysitter would make coconut macaroons and let us eat them while they were still hot. I have looked high and low for something that comes close to the perfection that only exists in my mind. And I have to say: The coconut macaroons are the best I've encountered. While I did not get... I have a problem. I am a Chocoholic. I cannot stop at one chocolate dessert. Rather, I eat until I am past the optimal point. That being said, as I planned our quick weekend trip, the Salty Tart Patisserie was a MUST do. It did not disappoint! Upon entering the Global Marketplace, you'll find this sweet shop tucked in the... More

I'm not a big frosting person, most of it is too sweet and tasteless for me. However, the chocolate de leche cupcake was good, the caramel filling in it was delicious and the frosting: WOW! My friend and I each had one and the whole while we ate them we couldn't help the happy incoherent sounds we made ~ it... More

I have never had such a melt-in-your-mouth cheesecake...oh my god....it was DIVINE! I couldn't tell you whether the place was expensive or not as the presentation of their goodies made me stop thinking about this the second I browsed their display. I had one dessert with my friends, bought another for the road and another to share with my significant... More

Went to the Minnesota Cheese fest today. Salty Tart was there with their Jalapeno cheese bread and Asiago pastries. Cheesy and delicious!

Michelle Gayer from Salty Tart, together with Jack Riebel from Butcher & the Boar, was among the nominees for the Best Chef in Midwest award from James Beard Foundation. Pastry chefs are not often considered for such awards and while visiting Minneapolis we made plans to taste her tarts and cookies. The bakery is located in Midtown Global Market, an... More

This little bakery stand was featured in the airplane magazine as I was flying in. Imagine my delight to find it was across the street from my hotel! Tried all the chocolate cakes and cupcakes I could during my stay, and even managed to take one home on the plane with me. The variety was wonderful, but the lemon trifle... More
