A Minneapolis tradition was born on October 2, 1947, when the Oak Grill opened for business. Architect Bob Hansen used characteristics from the Jacobean period in the design of the rooms. The ornate fireplace, originally from Salisbury, England, was over 300 years old when it was transported in sections and reassembled in the Oak Grill. With its solid oak columns and vast frame, it soon became the room's focal point. Its distinctive appearance, along with dark paneling, red chairs and dim lighting, help give the Oak Grill its cozy ambiance.

Always good

Everything is fresh and delicious. The food is not cheap, but you can tell everything is made with fresh ingredients. Nice place to stop and refuel for more shopping;-)

If you like hot, home-made popovers with honey butter as a free appetizer, this is your place! Formerly known as Dayton's Oak Grill, this restaurant has old-school ambiance with a variety of foods and wine selections, daily specials, quiche of the day, and did I mention the home-made popovers? You won't be disappointed!

Nothing special but a good place to get good on the run when shopping downtown Minneapolis. The selection is extensive but you are located in the lower level.

For a 'taste of MN', there's no better place to go. Their wild rice soup, pop overs and meat loaf all taste the same via each return visit and truly provide visitors with a 'taste of MN'. Service is always excellent, prices reasonable, noise level is such that you can hear yourself talk

We liked the feel of this restaurant. It is casual, but classy. We had drinks and appetizers and all was good. We liked that they offered a few lighter more healthy items. The outdoor patio is great.

We enjoyed the wonderful lunch at The Grill Room on the 12th floor. This was originally a gentlemen's club all oak channelled with a magnificent fireplace which much be fantastic in winter. Our server Ana was so helpful and friendly we loved her. We had Chicken stir fry, glazed salmon on farro risotto and Mandarin chicken salad. Each one was... More

We have been going to The Oak Grill at Macy's in Minneapolis for about 32 years on Christmas Eve. It is decorated beautifully in the Christmas spirit. They are famous for their popovers as a starter. They have a pointsetta cocktail that is light and festive. The white chocolate bread pudding was also delicious. It is a family tradition that... More

We went with family and our 14 month old to have breakfast at Macy's at 9 AM, and then meet Santa. This is done on the top floor, with a wonderful buffet set out. You can even have Mimosas! The food was great with scrambled eggs, bacon, French toast, fruit, home fries, juices, breads, buns, etc. and the Santa looked... More

We hadn't been in this dining room since it was "Dayton's". The restaurant was not prepared for the large crowd that came to see the flower show. Why not? 45 minute wait for a table. The waitress clearly had more tables than she could handle. Long wait for food. The good news was that the food was excellent.
