Shabby chic

Went to Montecatini Alto in the evening and found this place with its lights on and seemingly the only restaurant that's open. We knocked on the door and a gentleman told us to come in to this cute shabby chic interior. We were the only one there. Had to use their restroom and climbed up some... read more

Montecatini Alto is an Italian medieval Village with a small central plaza (Piazza Giusti) full of life and restaurants. The village is so small that if one parks outside the town one doesn’t have to walk more than a few feet to get to the piazza. Over there is “Casa Gala”. Simon is the owner, but he is also the... Lovely Montecatini Alto, Lovely square, Lovely Resturant run by nice people. The atmosphere is amazing, the food isn't that high. If you like meat Tuscany has better options for you, but i loved to eat there!

Judging by the ratings here on TA, this place must have been having a bad day when we went. It was a bit of a shambles, with the owners/staff running around between various businesses in Alto. The service was very slow, and a few items on the menu were not available. The food we did eventually have was nothing special,... More

This restaurant looks pleasant and attractive, with a relaxed unconventional look. We were staying half a mile from Montecatini Alto on holiday and visited Gala twice. On the first occasion, for dinner, service and food were ok, if a little amateurish. It was a quiet night so we gave them the benefit of the doubt. We would probably have given... More

We adored this charming little family café in lovely Montecatini Alto. After a fun ride up the funiculare, we wandered over to the picturesque town square, looking for Casa Gala based on TripAdvisor recommendations. They did not mislead, and we had one of those memorable local Toscano experiences. The interior was cheery, graced by a row of suspended old-fashioned light... More

We visited twice in summer 2014 both times we were very pleased with the food and the wine. The service is a bit slow, but on our first visit they had live music which was truly entertaining and good so we did not mind spending extra time at the table. The location is perfect for an eveninng with your partner... More

What a fantastic little restaurant this is. Full of charm, the ambience is really lovely. We are there twice during our stay in Montecatini. On both nights there was a live jazz trio and the atmosphere was magical. The owners have created a truly lovely place to dine. The food is rustic, good VFM, and delicious and the wine is... More

Coming into the main square in Montecatini Alto we were immediately struck by this adorable family run restaurant. The food was delicious and the proprietor was accommodating. As he said this was a tourist square, not a tourist menu, so there were traditional Tuscan dishes. The eponymous Gala, an adorable pug wandering about, was a charming touch.

But wonderful food, excellent unhurried service. Nice house red wine, pleasant ambience & live music. An unexpected treat. Reasonable price
