Great place for a meal when when coming in off the trail! Hearty soups and sandwiches and good desserts. The place is very busy and very popular therefore the service is a bit slow, but the food is worth the wait!

This place was recommended to us by a local and we were very happy with the meal. We sat outside on the patio which was very relaxing and comfortable. The food was very good but a little pricey. The pie was delicious. The location was convenient to shopping for last minute supplies since there is a great gear store attached... More

Interesting name, nice place. Overloaded with old junk hanging from the ceiling and walls, you are entertained while waiting for service. A nice place, good food, but the service is just not there. The hostess that met us gave us the impression we were bothering her. We protested when she tried to sit us in a room full of families... More

I realize my only other review on Tripadvisor is for the Lemon Wolf in Beaver Bay. These two places have a lot in common ... great ingredients, homemade-from-scratch food, friendly service and pleasant surroundings. So, if you like one of them, you'll probably like both — and I do.

I ate here with some friends just after spending a week in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. We were tired, sore and hungry for some burgers. Since it is adjacent to one of the local outfitters, I had expected the place to cater to backpackers and canoeists. This was not the case. Most of the clientele seemed to be women... More

Stopped for a quick lunch, the place was packed so figured we made a good pick. Was not disappointed. Just had a cup of wild rice soup and wish it would have been a bowl! Also had the corn bread which was an awesome treat. Only complaint was the acoustics in the facility are terrible. Because it was so busy,... More

Spent a week Up North, came to the Chocolate Moose three times. Have to say, very impressed with the selection and quality. Had Yum Yum Burger, Walley Sandwich and Wild rice Meatloaf Sandwich; all three were very flavorful and different. My husband ordered different salads, was happy with them as well. Ingredients always looked fresh and were different from what... More

Always a must stop while in Ely, MN. Delicious food and pleasant staff. Pick anything on the menu (I've tried numerous items) because you will be pleased and remember dessert.

We tend to get lunch here on our annual trips to Ely because it's what the group can agree on. The menu is broad and has good vegetarian options. But the service can be slow and often a wait for tables because they are always so busy/

A must stop on your way in or out of Ely. Not open very early for breakfast though. This place has been here through thick and thin for a reason. Located in the heart of Ely.
