Limited and tight seating. No public restroom so you have to go to the store next door which was so bad because Piragis was pretty cool.

The Chocolate Moose is located in a log building well-suited for its place in Ely, Minnesota. The menu is extensive, with a great bar, as well. Visitors and locals can enjoy a great meal in this unique setting. The Moose is probably most well known for its breakfast menu, but lunch and dinner menus have great selections. The daily salad,... The omelette was rubbery, the famous cranberry bread quite a disappointment. The food took too long to arrive and was cold when it did. It's a popular place but I'm not sure why. The decoration and signs are cute.

The only reason I'm giving the Moose 'only' 4 stars is that they used to be better. We live here year-round, so tend to rotate amongst all the places that are open in the winter. The Moose is still terrific on a lot of things. The Have A Smoke and Four Mile Portage burgers are excellent; the buffalo short ribs... More

We had a lovely dinner at the Chocolate Moose! Our server was friendly and helpful. We shared a salad (huge) and two appetizers. They also served a nice Pinot Noir.

Had a great lunch here on our last day in Ely. Had to go outside and into the adjoining store to use the restroom; a little unusual but no big deal. Really friendly service.

Interesting menu. The adults probably enjoyed our lunch more than the kids. Seating was cramped. Food was good. Biggest negative was that there is no rest room in the restaurant so you have to go to the store next door. A pretty big negative when you have kids that need an escort and its the middle of winter.

New Chef, Great Menu Options. Crab stuffed Walleye and Prime Rib were excellent. Ringing in the new year with new flavors and an old favorite. Still remains one of the reasons we moved to Ely long ago.

We stopped in for a late lunch after cross-country skiing and shopping at Piragis. The restaurant has a cozy, rustic feel to it and the menu offers some unique items not found in most Ely restaurants. We all tried some of the Manhattan Seafood Chowder, which isn't your typical seafood chowder. It wasn't creamy and had way more vegetables than... More

I enjoyed our dining at the Chocolate Moose. We stopped in late one evening when we arrived in town and enjoyed a good dinner. I would have liked to have returned but we just werent in town long enough.
