Just Okay

I was expecting more from this landmark of a bar. It was just okay, the service behind the bar was less than average with too many teenagers working behind the bar that didn't seem to know what they were doing.

We were here once again for New Years. The meal was good, however, the group I was with found that it seemed way too busy for our server in the restaurant side. She had way too many tables on her load and was not able to keep up with it. We waited some time for drink fill ups and items... More

It was a very busy evening, but the food arrived without too much delay. The taste was great. Whitey's is an old name in town and the quality of food and service seem to have been maintained. Whitey's is worth a visit.

Our friend recommended this place as she went to UND, and this place was good then, and still is lovely today. The menu was extensive and the food was beautifully cooked. The waitress was very friendly and cheerful, and nothing was too much trouble. Inside is quite special. I would definitely recommend anyone to eat here, young, old, middle aged,... More

Whitey's is on the shore of the Red River of the North. The outdoor seating is incredible with a great view of Grand Forks across the river. It is relatively new, having been destroyed when most of both Grand Forks and East Grand Forks were flooded to level of above 8 feet. Whitey's was able to salvage their massive and... More

I am now 62 and first visited Whitey's when I was about six years old. The gold speckled vinyl seats, the bar and stools and the juke boxes made it such a special. I love the liver pate. Although the atmosphere has now changed dramatically Grand a forks wouldn't be the same without Whitey's.

My husband and I went to Whitey's last night. We are a young couple in our late 20s and had a night out without the kids. We decided to eat here as it had been several years since we have been there. We knew it had new owners and it had changed and were a little nervous. We are glad... More

We'd always heard so much about Whitey's. Our first visit, a few years ago, wasn't anything special. The second visit, more recently, was much better. Interesting decor, decent food, adequate service. A little too variable for our liking...

We frequent Whiteys, both for lunch with the work crowd and for dinner with the family. The food is always excellent, and the staff is accommodating to whatever request we might have (and they are good with kids). You certainly will not be disappointed eating at Whitey's.

We had a wonderful dinner here. Since we were here during the week, it was quite slow, so we didn't have to wait for a table. Our waitress was elderly, but she was terrific. She took the time to explain the various menu choices and was able to answer any questions we had. She was very knowledgeable. My husband had... More
