I have been to this restaurant 3+ times and it has always been good. The service is very very good, and the restaurant is the perfect size upstairs. I have never been downstairs, but I believe large parties go down there. The food is great, the best you can get by canal park.

Every dish is made from scratch, if you love pasta this is it. Good salad selections, front row seat to Lake Superior.

Enjoy their amazing homemade herb bread dipped in a delicious olive oil. For an appetizer, I've had their crostini's and spinach dip -- all delicious. I've only ever had their fresh pasta (they also serve meat and fish entrees, as well as pizza and paninis) and each dish has been perfection. Ambiance is upscale casual and if you can get... More

Amatriciana to rival the best I've had! Numerous pasta dishes, creative appetizers; pear, goat cheese costini drizzled with honey; excellent gelato as well. Entrees away from the pastas were limited, so go with one of the pastas. Wine list was ok, but nothing outstanding. For a $20 corkage fee you can bring your own. Manager offered to decant my bottle... More

Went here for my birthday dinner. We are former Duluthians and love this city but it was truly magical to be "suspended" over the lake walk at dusk with Lake Superior frozen in front of us and huge icicles hanging from our window. What about the food you ask? I chose the blood orange martini and it will be remembered... More

Had dinner here on a Saturday night. Service was friendly and attentive. Most of the dishes are pasta based. While we waited in the bar we were able to watch the chefs prepare meals.

Very diverse Italian menu with truly something for everyone, including 3 teenage boys, and very reasonable prices. Stopped here on the way home from a ski trip to Lutsen. Restaurant is in a very quaint area just north of downtown in a row of beautifully restored buildings. We were seated in the enclosed porch at the back with an unbelievable... More

Va Bene is easily the best Italian restaurant in Duluth. Food is consistently great although the one criticism would be slow service.
