Driving by looking for a place for dinner on a busy Fri. night, we came upon Black Woods. The parking lot was full (good sign for good food) but the restaurant looked huge so we figured we might be able to get a table. We were seated in a small room at a table with a view of the lake... More

This might not be the best way to pick a restaurant, but driving by we noticed it & pulled in on a whim. Great decision! My wife ordered a salmon sandwich which she said was very good while I opted for the steak combo. A 9 oz. tough steak with Pasta Luca Brasi & baked potato. The steak was rare... More

Have you ever had great sex with a not so great person. That was Kinda like this place. Amazing, mind blowing food and bloody Mary's, but the servers just kept looking at me like they were trying to one up me... And flirting with my boyfriend. Not nice. Wahh. But he wasn't flattered either. It was kinda an awkward situation... More

We went here because it was walking distance from our hotel. The bar atmosphere was excellent! Our dinner was very good too! The beet, goat cheese, and walnut flatbread pizza was awesome! Will definitely go back!

Consistently one of the best places to eat in Duluth. I eat here, or stop to meet friends for drinks after work, at least once a month.

I ate walleye every chance I had on a recent Minnesota trip, and the walleye at the Black Woods was available with wild rice, making it extra special! Nice place and our table was quiet enough for our group of 4 to actually have a good conversation. We had some nice salads to start, which were served with bread (a... More

We stayed at the adjourning Americin hotel on a return trip from the Boundary Waters. Good beer selection and we benefited from the Happy Hour prices on the beer and appetizers. They have a varied menu and we ordered a burger, prime rib sandwich, chicken cobb salad and roasted vegetable pasta. All were delicious, including their crostini and wonderful dinner... More

We had a marvelous lunch, served by the most delightful waitress - Ellie- with a view of Lake Superior. Salmon was seared perfectly and everyone enjoyed their lunch entrees. Key lime "pie" dessert was yummy too.

The meatloaf is incredible! There was a gravy style sauce that made this mesquite dish amazingly unique. Never had anything like this before. The service is friendly and the decor is reflective of the outdoorsy lodge setting. A definite eatery when here in Duluth.
