Stopped by for dessert. Got a huge ice cream. Many flavors to choose from. The guy who worked there was friendly and nice, despite just finishing a long line of customers.

This place ALWAYS has a line in the summer, and a particularly long one on hot, sunny days. With a giant waffle cone and generous scoops, let alone their hand-scooped malts, the price is a great value. The walk-up windows are kitschy and the college-age (maybe highschool) students working are always chipper.

This small malt shop is right on the north side of the Fitgers Complex, and has easy access to the lake walk trail system. Everything our group had was great and served quick.

Friends had recommended the stop and they were not wrong. Best old fashioned malt I have ever had. Worth the cost and did not disappoint on any level.

Hard to get to and little parking but it is always busy due to the great malts. You eat it looking over the lake from up high so it is s treat. We go every year and will continue to do so.

The location overlooking Lake Superior is just fantastic. The ice cream in no way disappoints but it is not too distinguishable from other hand-dipped offerings. But all in all a nice stop on a summer day. Look out on the lake a daydream about where all the ships are going.

The lines are long, prices far too high for what you get, but mostly the quality of the ice cream is no better than the average grocery store stuff. They are popular because of the location. You would be better off going to the Chocolate Shoppe on London road!

This malt shop will be a tradition for us from now on. Malts were thick and delicious. Everything came fast. A little pricey, $30 for family of four, but willing to spend money for ambience and quality which this has. Only problem is parking but after eating a whole malt, nobody should complain about walking a few blocks!

You need to stop at the Portland Malt Shoppe anytime you are in Duluth or just passing through. They start with your choice of the most delicious hard ice cream, hand scooped. Add any of a large variety of flavors and you will get to enjoy your malt while overlooking beautiful Lake Superior. I live in Duluth and any time... More
