Cutest spot for a Malt in Duluth!

Such an adorable little malt shop... great ice cream and right on the Lakewalk. Only open during the Summer.

We go to the Portland Malt shop whenever we return to Duluth. It reminds me of the iconic malt shops from the "good old days". Like most ice cream shops, it's not cheap but the location on Lake Superior can't be beat!

I'm a bit fan of traditional malts, especially those made with real vanilla ice cream and hot fudge. It is easy to make them too thin given the temperature of the hot fudge, but this one was as thick as they come and had just the right amount of malt powder. The price is not cheap at $6.95 (the only... More

We never miss this place. On old London Road, the old route through Duluth. Not an eat-in place, you enjoy sitting outside with your malt while you watch the boats or start your Lake Walk

Open May to October, I look forward to going to the Malt Shoppe every year. It's a great stop off the lakewalk or a good dessert option after dining at any of the Superior St. restaurants. I get the Dark Chocolate Malt every, single time. Highly recommend as an essential Duluth stopping point.

Love the setting (the lake & Superior St), the history, the general experience, the ice cream! The waiting and surly teen serving us could have been done without but we always make a point of going here when we're in Duluth.

Yes, the malts are expensive, but they are so worth the price. I can't even put into words how delicious they are. I always order a hot fudge malt with extra malt powder and an extra cookie. Walking along the lake, or down London Road while enjoying a malt is so relaxing. It's about the overall experience. Yum!

A yummy ice cream treat with a view that can't be beat. Open April through October, right off the Lakewalk trail. Popular tiny historic refurbished gas station turned ice cream shop. Walking distance from shopping, Leif Erickson Park and the beautiful Rose Garden. Expect lines in the summer, but worth the short wait. You can watch ships and boats out... More

I ordered the butterscotch malt because of a reviewers recommendation and it was SO good! Can't wait for the chance to have it again!

What a great place to have some ice cream. It was incredible. Only down side is they only take cash. My family very much enjoyed this place. It was packed with people. Everything tasted so fresh. We were able to sit at the picnic table and look out over the lake.
