Will be a tradition for us

This malt shop will be a tradition for us from now on. Malts were thick and delicious. Everything came fast. A little pricey, $30 for family of four, but willing to spend money for ambience and quality which this has. Only problem is parking but after eating a whole malt, nobody should complain about walking a few blocks!

You need to stop at the Portland Malt Shoppe anytime you are in Duluth or just passing through. They start with your choice of the most delicious hard ice cream, hand scooped. Add any of a large variety of flavors and you will get to enjoy your malt while overlooking beautiful Lake Superior. I live in Duluth and any time... More

We always try to make it here when in Duluth, with good variety of cold treats (the Malts are excellent), good service, and then the opportunity to sit down by the lake just below the shoppe makes this an all-around Superior stop.

This is an old building that houses a contemporary malt shop. No indoor seating, but, GREAT ice cream. Loved sitting at the picnic tables outside overlooking the lake.

On a hot summer day, this is the place to be...this or any ice cream shop. The ice cream is fine, but keep in mind it's just Schoeps.

I guess bring exact cash, it's cash only...but they won't break bigger bills. I'm sorry, but it's 2015, and it's a "cash only" business, in a tourist filled city and they refused to break $100 bill due to "managers policy". They suggested I waste my time going next door to pull money out of an ATM (and pay a fee)...even... More

Excellent malts! Small walk up ice cream and malt shop in Duluth. Only a slight detour from the highway when traveling up the North Shore, but worth it. It's a little pricey, but you get your monies worth in taste and volume. Limited parking.

We went on a weekday afternoon and the line was still about 10 people deep, which is a lot better than on weekend evenings when you could be waiting upwards of an hour. However, their ice cream, especially the malts are well worth it! The only difficult thing is to decide what you want to get, but you have plenty... More

Great malt and ice cream shop along the boardwalk. Very fast service, reasonable prices, great ice cream! Will definitely go back!
