We love coming to this restaurant because it has excellent food for a decent price. One thing about the food is it is goes beyond your usual. Omelettes contain unusual mixtures, including salmon, wild rice and spicy sausage. Their skillets are numerous and include basics like a cordon blue and anything the cook wants to throw in.Toast is not the... More

I had heard about their "Soda Shop" type malt. I just had one for breakfast! Cleaning and cosy. Great attitudes! Definitely going back!

We eat here every time we are in the area. It's a typical small town restaurant - not fancy, but worth the stop. The menu features a good variety of home cooked items. I had a breakfast skillet that had eggs, hashed browns, apple wood smoked bacon, cheese and wild rice. It was delicious! The portions are generous and the... More

We just spent two weeks in the Brainerd/Baxter area and ate breakfast here several times. It was very good and the service was very good. It is a "home cooking" type restaurant and is NOT a chain. They have been in business FOREVER.

They have a billboard in Brainerd saying they have the best breakfast in 43 miles or free. I would drive 43 miles to find a place to eat, rather than eat there. The food there is very poor quality. We had two differant meals and niether one was eatable. Not worth the time.

Our group of 9 was looking for one of those good small town cafes to eat at. We were very satisfied with our stop at Sawmill Inn. They gave us one long table in a separate room which was nice. The waitress was friendly and prompt with us. We were all very happy with the food and the amount we... More

Sawmill Inn (formerly Van's Cafe) has been a mainstay in Brainerd for over 70 years! Little has changed in all those years including the food and the service. Home cooking is a specialty for this eating place on a familiar intersection. There are several private eating/meeting rooms that are used for group presentations or meetings. If you have lived in... Daily specials will draw you to this historic cafe. Made from scratch menu fare is fun try, also. Ice-cream fountain treats are a must try.
