Good food; some service issues

We went for dinner two nights. Food was good both nights and priced fairly. Service was good the first night but, the second night our waitress kept forgetting us. We called her over to order after we sat for quite a while and she was very apologetic that she thought she had already taken our... read more

I pulled in here starving and wasn't disappointed. It's such a cute welcoming place. Fish and chips were yummy! Free wifi too!

A quaint restaurant with award winning pulled pork meals, plus other selections. My husband and I really enjoyed the smoked pulled pork meals we chose.

We stopped here for lunch time on our trip along the North Shore. We were not disappointed! I had the reuben sandwich with kettle chips and it was very tasty. My husband had a pork sandwich and said it was delicious. Our daughter rated this restaurant as her favorite on our trip. The service was excellent. We'd definitely stop here... More

We came here after an active day hiking, and it was a busy night at the restaurant but they found a nice table for us after a brief wait in the bar. Very good food - bbq sandwiches, burgers, fish; It has a friendly atmosphere, for both locals and travelers. I had been here very many years before in its... More

A friend and I tried Camp 61 on Sunday, June 14th, and we had a terrific meal. We had the special which was a large pork chop topped with caramelized onions and blue cheese. It was exquisite. We also sampled the local ale which was recommended by our waitress who provided outstanding service. Towards the end of the meal the... More

We all had the wild rice for a side dish. The waitress was helpful and friendly. I Would have liked to see the rooms in the lodge.

We chose Camp 61 because it offered lightly fried fresh herring when available. The waitress told us it was not available, but after we ordered walleye we learned it was. We were not allowed to change our order but were given some herring too (at +$4). Both fish were deep (not lightly) fried, dry, and so equally tasteless we could... More

What a hidden surprise! We were staying at the Gooseberry Cabins and Motel along hwy 61 and saw this along the way to Grand Marias. We were ready for a late lunch, pulled in and enjoyed the fresh caught herring. Lightly breaded kept the fresh taste available, and we loved the cole slaw that we ordered along with Castle Danger... Happened to stop by this restaurant on our way back to Duluth. Wasn't sure what to think from the outside. We were pleasantly surprised and had such a great meal. Their pulled pork sandwiches and brisket are seriously to die for! We could not believe this tiny town had such a great restaurant. The owner was very helpful with directions... More
