Great wild rice

We all had the wild rice for a side dish. The waitress was helpful and friendly. I Would have liked to see the rooms in the lodge.

We chose Camp 61 because it offered lightly fried fresh herring when available. The waitress told us it was not available, but after we ordered walleye we learned it was. We were not allowed to change our order but were given some herring too (at +$4). Both fish were deep (not lightly) fried, dry, and so equally tasteless we could... More

What a hidden surprise! We were staying at the Gooseberry Cabins and Motel along hwy 61 and saw this along the way to Grand Marias. We were ready for a late lunch, pulled in and enjoyed the fresh caught herring. Lightly breaded kept the fresh taste available, and we loved the cole slaw that we ordered along with Castle Danger... Happened to stop by this restaurant on our way back to Duluth. Wasn't sure what to think from the outside. We were pleasantly surprised and had such a great meal. Their pulled pork sandwiches and brisket are seriously to die for! We could not believe this tiny town had such a great restaurant. The owner was very helpful with directions... More

Sandwiches came with kettle chips only... fries were extra. Service was good but would not go here again. If we would not have already ordered drinks before looking at the menu.... we would have left and gone elsewhere.

We have been motel guests of Camp 61 in the past. We have enjoyed breakfast and dinners at their restaurant. This trip we stayed someplace else but we made sure to have dinner at Camp 61 during our stay on the northshore of Lake Superior. Everyone is always very pleasant. The food is excellent. The service is fast but friendly.... More

Service with a smile. Best potatoe salad! Wild rice from the wild! Baked potatoes! The walleye was so nicely coated. Not greasy breading. The decor was authentic Northern History! Very classy and fun place! Next to an agate museum and jewelry shop! The Falls nearby are amazing to see

Our party of four women friends spent a few days on the North Shore and stopped for a late lunch at Camp 61 after a visit to Tettegouche State Park (also wonderful). The whole vibe of this highway roadhouse was warm and friendly. The owner greeted us and stopped by our table several times to see if we were satisfied.... More

Good service and barbeque. Award winning barbeque. Good to take kids. Very nice people. Nice place to stop for lunch or dinner and the barbeque options are good.

I stopped in for a light lunch at this roadside cafe. The decor was country warm, with fish and beverage related wall art. I ordered the special, which changes daily - I had a nice sandwich of grilled chicken with Swiss cheese and buffalo sauce, which was very tasty. Service was friendly and quite casual - I appreciated the low... More
