Stopped for a Snack and Drinks

After a long morning hike near Beaver Bay we decided to stop at Northern Lights Cafe for a snack and refreshments. We split an order of onion rings, which were just ok. I'm a huge lover of onion rings and like to try them at new places. These were crispy and tender, but they were obviously not... read more

On our way to Thanksgiving weekend at Cove Point, we stopped for lunch at Northern Lights Roadhouse and Pub. What a delightful surprise. The menu was rich and varied, including some enticing Scandinavian offerings which, unfortunately, I didn't notice until I had already ordered from the front part of the menu. But that's OK. The rice stuffed mushrooms in a... More

Restaurant was clean and staff friendly with a great attitude. The food was good. Loved the atmosphere. Autentic north shore history with a beautiful view of Lake Superior. We were there on a gorgeous day and enjoyed patio dining. Recommend stopping.

The place was packed! Was seated promptly. Took orders right away, and enjoyed the cocktails while waiting. The view is exceptional for a restaurant! Very nice vintage décor. I had the Northern Lights Sampler: Great presentation, and a quality dish! Another had the Elk Pie; sort of like a pot pie....he loved it! The Walleye on a Plank was very... More

Service was indifferent and server oddly distant. OK we will make the best of it as it was an awesome day. Had a sampler plate and portions were small as expected, but the mango salad was canned fruit cocktail poured over lettuce. It would be so easy to do that correctly with fresh fruit, I don’t understand it at all.... More

The view is amazing but the food was lacking. Would not recommend stopping. The prices were higher than what the food was worth. The wine tasted outdated.

If you are expecting fancy, this isn't it. But, if you are looking for simple food that tastes good, with a good view, then this is it. Even my son, who is the most picky of eaters, wants to go back. Some things can be a little salty, but overall, it was pretty good. LIke I said, if you like... More
