We were told by shoppers in Costco to eat at the Black Bear Lodge and wouldn't you know it....Those who spoke highly of it were actually there when we arrived. The manager himself came over to visit and ask questions of our travels, etc. I thought was was very considerate of him.

We don't mind spending extra money for great food, but this did not warrant the high prices! Steak & Shrimp for $30 and the steak was tiny and tough. SO NOT worth the money when Grizzlys was right down the street!!

We were driving through town and wanted a sit down breakfast. We were ushered into the breakfast buffet even though I think just their restaurant seating was available. I really didn't care until after we saw what the buffet was. I am sorry, but $15.50 for a small salad bar, nasty eggs, and pathetic chicken with nothing to drink but... More

We arrived at 3 pm and found out it was happy hours!!! All appetizers were $5 during this time and drinks were very reasonable. We ordered the fish tacos (appetizer) and the shrimp burger (meal). Both were very tasty and delivered with a smile! The wait person was extra ordinary! She was cheerful, helpful with selecting menu items, informative and... More

We stopped by the Black Bear for a buger and beer! Great service, fresh cooked hamburger, great bun and lots of toppings to chose from! Thanks!

A beautiful restaurant in an upscale northwoods style. Service was friendly and attentive, but food just average. We have been here for lunch, supper and brunch. I have noticed more than once that my shoes stick to the carpet, it makes me wonder about the cleanliness of the kitchen. We probably won't go back.

Stopped here for our wedding anniversary. We pretty much had the place to ourselves which was nice. The server was attentive and pleasant. We ordered the fish tacos for an app, delicious. Our entres were both tasty and well portioned. The atmosphere makes nice for a couples dinner. The noise from the saloon side was noisy at times. Overall, a... More

We hadn't been here for a while until today. We will be back sooner. Our food was excellent. Wild rice soup, prime rib sandwich! Charlie our server was outstanding! Great experience today!

We had prime rib here and it was delicious. The restaurant had a north woods look. The whole place reeked of log cabin. Big fireplace, lots of timbers, and food reflecting the north lakes. The prime rib was cooked as ordered. The salad was crunchy and I loved it. The serving staff was attentive. Next time we are in the... More

The pan-fried walleye was delicious, and I enjoyed the rustic setting around the bar on a cold winter's night in northern Minnesota.
