Love this place. Price is high, but well worth it. Ahi Tuna appetizer by request (not on menu) is fantastic. calamari is breaded paper thin & very fresh. Bartenders are on top of their game there.

Even thought this is a chain, it is more upscale than most chains. Great Steak Maui! Love the chicken fingers, cole slaw is awesome. Good wine list. Typically very good service.

The Ahi Tuna Salad here is spectacular. I get it almost every time I come here. Also, the Orzo and Wild Rice salad is a great cold side dish with lots of flavor. You also can't go wrong with grilled steaks and fish here too. I like the Artezin Zinfandel too - it goes great with the Ahi Tuna.

J. Alexander's is a perfectly good, though decidedly unexceptional place to eat. The food was good but not great, and the service was pretty good. Our overall expeience was very nice. Great service and atmosphere. Relaxed and comfortable. The food is good but somewhat overrated and the prices are definitely skewed. You could get the same quality a third of the cost. However if your looking for great service and a comfortable casual atmosphere, I highly recommend it.

I had grilled artichoke there one week and enjoyed it so much, I took my husband back 5 days later. I suggest if you don't know how to eat a whole artichoke, look it up on Internet before ordering. Worth the effort.

The bottom-line is that the food is excellent here. You can't wrong with about anything on the menu. However, my tip is ..... get the carrot cake. It's devine. If you are in the central/northern suburbs of Detroit, you should stop in and visit J Alexander's Restaurant.
