Hidden gem on the Red Arrow

The Blue Plate Cafe is an inconspicuous, plain, small, practically shack-like building situated on the Red Arrow Highway in Union Pier, Michigan. We ate breakfast here and this place was MUY busy. The food was great and there is a large variety to choose from, however the service was a bit grumpy. I would eat here again as there isn't much in the area to choose from and the food made it worth it over all.

Been here a few times and the experience has been about the same each time.... They're understaffed leaving the servers harried and unpleasant. When the food finally does arrive it's decent nothing special but there's not much of it. The prices are high in my opinion for what you get and the service. Will be looking for a new place

A simple roadside cafe on the Red Arrow Highway. Home made breads and jams with eggs and fresh cut potatoes or hash with fresh squeezed juices. Yum.

On a day trip to Harbor Country, we stopped at this inviting cafe for coffee and breakfast and were rewarded with fresh pressed hot Michigan apple cider and terrific tomatoes (oven roasted with Italian seasonings) as an accompaniment to eggs and bacon. Fresh squeezed orange juice rounded out a lovely start to our day. I couldn't resist a take out... More

On a stranger's recommendation, I brought my grand daughter for Sunday brunch before driving back home.. We were both delighted with our food. The blueberry mousecake was gobbled up with relish and I too enjoyed the frittata special. The coffee was good and the wait staff attentive, but a little slow.

We were looking for somewhere for breakfast before we all split up and went our separate ways - three groups to Midway Airport in Chicago and two of us to Florida by road. We arrived early on Sunday morning, were welcomed and served immediately. The food was excellent, with a wonderful selection of breakfast entrees, and the wait staff were... More

This should probably only get an Average review but I think it would have been better had we not been their first customer of the day. My french toast had raw egg still, the grill probably wasn't hot enough yet so I told the server and she couldn't have been more apologetic. I order pancakes with a nutella something or... More

The restaurant is freshly decorated with a delicious-looking array of baked goods at the door. It is too bad no one greets your arrival or acts interested in serving you. The coffee is very good. The breakfast food looks appealing, but we were there for lunch. The tuna was inedible and the chicken salad was only okay. It is evident... More

I love this eccentric little place on the side of the hwy - they are kid/dog friendly, use good quality local ingredients, huge portions (bigger than necessary, but you get you money's worth) and everything tastes great. I always have a hard time choosing between breakfast - their specialty - and a salad, because they make awesome salads and that... More
