Gelato!!

My family stayed about 1 mile away from this cafe and we went at least once a day for Gelato. So many flavors, so delicious, this place is adorable. The staff is so nice and quick. I loved this place!

The Cafe at the Pumpernickel in Union Pier was a great local eatery. The outside appearance with old brick implied an outdated mom & pop diner, but inside, the restaurant was modern and clean and decorated well. We would have LOVED to see the teen staff trained to make our experience even better as the food was good. I had... More

We vacation in Union Pier annually and alway go to the Pumpernickel for the gelato! Fresh delicious and wonderful flavors and so close to where we stay. We also get the Starbucks coffee in the morning. Just a solid, convent and pleasant place.

If you go, do not order the huevos rancheros. All you get is two eggs with salsa on top. There are redskin potatoes and toast, too, but it's certainly not what normal huevos are. Wife's omelet was OK, though.

We are staying up the road near the beach in a cottage with our three kids. After about a mile walk we all enjoyed the gelato! While inside we made plans to go for lunch or dinner at another time. Friendly staff and great charm.

Not only are the meals innovative but they are made by one chef -- Glenn -- the inexhaustable 24/7 proprietor of the inn and restaurant. The meals are hearty, the soups homemade and inventive and the service from college students is likewise great. For those who do not appreciate the wait for good food there is a Pizza Hut sufficiently... More

The soup menu is fantastic and followed with a scoop of gelato and Starbucks latte hits the spot. FYI- there is no take out except gelato and coffee!

I have never experienced a more bizarre situation than I did at this restaurant. We were never greeted, never served and when we asked the waitress for drinks or a breakfast menu she indicated the the "chef" didn't think he would have time to make anything we ordered. I would never recommend this establishment to anyone. Save your time and... More

Pumpernickel Inn Bed anf Breakfast was a great place for us to have a great vacation. Four friends got together and spent 3 days there. The breakfasts were fabulous. The rooms were clean, comfortable and private. We love the Inn and the area. Thanks, Glenn for another wonderful vacation. !

The Casual Chef Café has a wonderful menu for breakfast through dinner, serves Starbucks and has wonderful gelato. But it is more than a cozy, casual restaurant. Above the café is the Pumpernickel Inn. This entire building was a boarding house from years ago used as a hotel for workers installing the railroad that is across the way. The entire... More
