Chef and meals are superb

Not only are the meals innovative but they are made by one chef -- Glenn -- the inexhaustable 24/7 proprietor of the inn and restaurant. The meals are hearty, the soups homemade and inventive and the service from college students is likewise great. For those who do not appreciate the wait for good... read more

The soup menu is fantastic and followed with a scoop of gelato and Starbucks latte hits the spot. FYI- there is no take out except gelato and coffee!

I have never experienced a more bizarre situation than I did at this restaurant. We were never greeted, never served and when we asked the waitress for drinks or a breakfast menu she indicated the the "chef" didn't think he would have time to make anything we ordered. I would never recommend this establishment to anyone. Save your time and... More

Pumpernickel Inn Bed anf Breakfast was a great place for us to have a great vacation. Four friends got together and spent 3 days there. The breakfasts were fabulous. The rooms were clean, comfortable and private. We love the Inn and the area. Thanks, Glenn for another wonderful vacation. !

The Casual Chef Café has a wonderful menu for breakfast through dinner, serves Starbucks and has wonderful gelato. But it is more than a cozy, casual restaurant. Above the café is the Pumpernickel Inn. This entire building was a boarding house from years ago used as a hotel for workers installing the railroad that is across the way. The entire... More

I want to thank the staff of the Pumpernickel for serving us during the restaurants's closing hours this Friday night (8pm). We were going to get gelato (which stays open 'til 10pm), but wanted to get a sandwich instead. Coming by at 7:55pm probably didn't help the wait staff, but I cannot thank them enough for taking care of my... More

The best gelato you will ever taste! About a dozen flavor to choose from. Try to have some every day we are on Union Pier!

Our family continues to love this place!!! I first came here in 2006, then almost every year after that...just recently we ate on Friday, August 17, the food was fantastic!! We are vegetarians and there's plenty to choose from. The ambiance is fantastic. There's even a public beach down the road (Rock Beach) friendly, clean, and not crowded...cars can park... More

We ate here 3 times during our 2.5 days in Union Pier - twice for lunch and once for gelato. The restaurant has about 10 tables and a couple outside as well. It takes a while to get seated even when tables are open (I think they are short-staffed) but it was worth the wait. They have an extensive breakfast... More
