Although not a hot dog fanm this place is very good

I had the Wednesday Special which is a Cajun sausage with peppers and onions, fries and a drink. It was very fresh, tasty, and a very good value.

I have never been able to find an authentic Chicago style dog outside of Chicago until now. I can't wait to come back and try some other dogs.

We love getting Hot Dogs here. I love the Chicago Dog and also the Coney Dog. They are just as good as any that we've gotten from Chicago. This is family run and aways friendly. I ordered over the phone and it was ready when I got there to pick it up. Our order was correct and handed to me... More

I've been to Hippo's many times before but I have never written a review before today. Took my mom for her first visit and she agrees with me that they have some of the best dogs in the Midwest. My favorite is the Great Scot with the tomatoes, pickle and hot peppers. Hippo's also serves some of the best fries... More

Best Chicago style hot dogs locally as well as those I've had in Chicago. Potato Salad very good as well.

Amazing Vienna Beef hot dogs! Coney style and Chicago style are amazing. We had ours to go and ate on the tailgate. My kids scarfed the dogs down. Owner is a blast to talk with! Highly recommend this place to any local or out of towner!

My son commented, "dad, this is the best Chicago dog I've ever had!" That says a lot, because we've eaten at all the suburban Chicago fast food restaurants synonymous with "traditional." Steamed bun, original Vienna Beef products, plus certification in their "hall of fame" says it all. Friendly owners too. Will be back next time we're in town. Would have... More

The restaurant is in an awkward location with many industrial buildings in the area. However, if you are looking for a taste of Chicago in Detroit area, this is the place to go. They are honest about trying to stay authentic to the Chicago style hot dog joints that you see in NE Illinois. The right food vendors, the right... More

By far the best Hot Dogs around. The chili dogs are outstanding but the Chicago dogs are really good too. The hardest part is deciding which dog to order.
