Steak, lobster, perch

In four meals we had a variety of porterhouse(rare), with grilled mushrooms and onions. filet (medium) strip (medium), fried perch, and lobster tail-everything was cooked to perfection. Garlic toast was really awesome and the coleslaw was very good too. We would definitely eat at Bum Steer again.

We just returned from our yearly trip to our beloved Northport...26 miles north on M22. We always dine at Mode's, this visit three separate dinners. Each time we both enjoyed the prime rib and the not to be missed lettuce wedge w/the house homemade blue cheese dressing.....to die for...the bar drinks are always consistent and good. I have to have... More

The tables were a bit too tight and the place was very dark, but the waitress was very friendly and the food good. We went on a Tuesday night and were seated immediately. The only disappointed was that the walleye wasn’t available. Two of us had the baked scallops and they were wonderful. The salad is an iceberg wedge so... More

Wanted nice steak dinner for Husband's birthday and was told to go to Mode's. Husband had steak and I had prime rib. Food was OK but won't be going back, it was just ordinary.

Our wine tour guide recommended this place to us--boy, am I glad we listened! The lettuce wedge with their own blue cheese was so delicious, it was hard not to devour it! I got the filet center cut ordered medium with a side of mushrooms and my bf got the 16 oz prime rib ordered rare. We both thoroughly enjoyed... More

A little bit pricey but the steak was good as well as the salad bar. The waitress was very friendly and an overall good experience.

This is old 50's / 60's style atmosphere with great food and service. Not only great steaks but real drinks and comfort.

Translation: Kid Free Zone Great drinks and good food, what could be better... I know a private parking lot. Seriously steak and prime rib were great, salad bar (available on weekends) is well maintained, and the baked potato was foiled wrapped. Only old school touch missing was sour cream and butter served open. The little packages you had to peel... More

Never having been in Traverse City, we would pick the busiest time to travel there! After looking at reviews on TripAdvisor we decided to have dinner at Mode's Bum Steer. Old time steakhouse with a great choice of steaks and entrees. The wedge salad is a wonderful addition to any meal. This is not Ruth's Chris or Morton's but it is probably the best steakhouse choice in Travers City. Don't forget their excellent desserts.
