Interesting flavor combos

While wine tasting, we asked some locals where they'd recommend eating. They said Poppycocks doesn't get as much fanfare as other places, but it's a solid option. I'd agree. We began with the pita chips appetizer ($11). This was great. They come dusted with grated cheese and three dipping... read more

Difficult to say which is better, the food or the service. There are so many good things on the menu it is hard to choose.

Great smokey brisket and service. I love the ambiance, local wines and desserts. Pita chips are my favorite. You can make a light meal of it for two.

While the character and atmosphere wasn't my style, we had a good lunch here. It's a strange mix of dark bar/diner/cafe. Service was a bit slow, even though it wasn't busy on New Year's Day, but our waitress was pleasant. The menu is unusual and eclectic. We wanted a good salad, and weren't disappointed. The lettuce was a fresh quality... More

Wandered around downtown TC looking for a place to eat and decided on Poopycocks....so glad we did. Great atmosphere, attentive and knowledgable staff and delicious food. We both had the whitefish .....it was wonderful as well as the veg and mashed potato sides.

Ladies night small plates and drinks. Fast service. Great food. Martini's are a little pricey but well worth it.

Met a friend for dinner, chose here because I've only been one other time and heard good things. I ordered the special, Mac and cheese with ham and onion. It was ok, not great. Atmosphere was nice and quiet, easy to carry on a conversation which was great. With all the places to eat in Traverse city I'm not sure... More

We stumbled upon this delightful restaurant as we explored downtown TC and enjoyed a wonderful soup and sandwich special. Reasonably priced and very creative offerings were appreciated. Their specialty seems to be their sweets...with huge cookies and baked goods and scrumptious pies. You can't go wrong!

We stayed in Traverse City for only one night on the way to Sleeping Bear Dunes, and after strolling through downtown left our restaurant choice to chance - so glad we did! We picked Poppycocks and had a great dinner. Friendly service, creative menu, and even though we ordered a pretty wide variety, all was excellent. The vegetarian entrée was... More

We ordered the Nicoise salad. The tuna was excellent. It was the best part of the dish. The rest of the dish was trying too hard to be different from the usual Nicoise salad. The charred Napa cabbage was bitter and chewy. The potatoes were really cold. Room temp would have been better. The dressing seemed to be from a jar.... More
