Great food off the beaten path

Had a great Saturday night meal on a rainy November evening . Service was excellent, bread came with the meal & water glasses were promptly refilled. Based on the popularity & the sumptciousness of nearby diners' plates, we ordered the prime rib, which was fantastic! Our wine paired well with... read more

We ate here one evening while staying at Chateau Chantal. This place is pretty outdated in terms of décor, which is probably fine for it's target clientele, which seems to be retired folks. (at 38 and 42, my husband and I were the youngest people there). We are foodies and come from a town with AMAZING restaurant choices, so we... More

Wlfe and I ate the almond-crusted whitefish. It came with fresh baked bread, a house salad, green beans, and wild rice. Salad was ok, nothing special. Fish had a nice nutty crust and a cherry puree drizzle...we thought the fish was a bit overdone. Rice and green beans were done well, but again, nothing special. For us, the meal was standard... The Tavern is nestled between cherry orchards in the heart of Old Mission Peninsula and offers a fine-dining, yet warming ambiance featuring local artists throughout the restaurant. The menu is predominantly contemporary American comfort with a splash of Eastern European delicacies (Pierogi Platter on Thursday night). The service is relaxed yet attentive and seems to cater to both locals and... More

We stopped here for lunch on a whim yesterday. I don't think I've had better chicken with rice soup. It came with a half sandwich - cherry chicken salad melt on home baked multi-grain bread - and slaw. I'm not a fan of 'melts" but I would get this again in a heartbeat. The ingredients were fresh and the seasoning... More

Pro: Cool gallery, surrounded by beautiful vineyards on the peninsula. The Grecian lamb chops were delicious and cooked well. Companions said the clam chowder was good. Was with a group of about 6 people and it still felt intimate. Food came out quickly. Con: Not many options for those with food allergies. Waitress didn't seem clear about what gluten was... More

Have been there many times, every time we go up to TC, we eat here at least once. I would recommend reservations as it is popular.

We Tried this Restaurant on a recommendation from a friend. My wife had Duck and I had Prime Rib, it was very good. It was reasonably priced for the food we received. The service was good. Would recommend.

The food here is generally quite good. To save a little money, you could split a plate ($5.00 charge) and still have a pretty sufficient meal. The location here is quite appealing, about 15 miles north of Traverse City on the Old Mission Peninsula. There are numerous wineries on the peninsula, and you could enjoy one or more wine tastings... More
