smells are so wonderful outside

When visiting the Grand Traverse Commons be sure and stop in to a tasty sweet, sandwich or take a loaf of bread home. Its hard to find true bakeries like this one.

We stumbled upon this bakery set on the grounds of a renovated old state run asylum from the 1800's when we discovered the French bakery in downtown Traverse City didn't serve croissants during the week. What a fabulous find! We returned every day of our vacation for their delicious croissants, scones, mini quiche and bread for breakfast. They bake in... More

The kids love their cookies, the wife ant I effulgence in Pleasanton bars or coconut bars. They have great breads and butters. Everyone has a great personality:)

ok...this place just underwent an ownership change...but it is still tops if you're looking for quality bakery bread and accessories...they're number one in Northern Michigan! The change in ownership has made no difference in the quality of their products. They are pricier than their competitors...but are worth it! We'll travel 95 miles just to stock up on their incredible breads!!

It may be a good thing I live 250 miles away from the Pleasanton Brick Oven Bakery, because if I were a Traverse City resident I'd have bankrupted myself buying baked goods from this small shop. It's located in back of the handsome former lunatic asylum in TC, which has been upscaled into shops and condos for a more mentally... More

A little hard to find. We read great reviews of their wood fired oven products, especially their pizzas. We visited them twice. We wanted pizza the first time. They advertised making pizza from 5-9pm only. We were there at 4:45pm and was told they had a very large order to produce and that they weren't doing pizza until after 5:30pm.... More

I stop at Pleasanton Bakery almost every time I make a trip into TC: their bread is amazing (and so are their other baked goods - try the shortbread)! The pizza, fresh from a brick oven, is delicious (and habit-forming).

Friends recommended Pleasanton to us a few years ago, and now it's our source for bread in Northern Michigan. We can (and do) make our own bread, but we don't have a brick oven or well tended starters like Pleasanton. What a difference they make. The Bakery is now making pizzas. Pleasanton's prowess with bread is apparent in the wonderful... More

I regularly buy bread from the brick oven bakery and it is one of my favorite bread makers in Traverse City - old world style, a slow rise using mostly Michigan grains. But recently I tried a pizza from them. We chose the "meat lovers" which had unique wide slices pepperoni, or salami and some great salty cappicola. Actually I'm... More
