I admit to frequenting the Baskerville regularly, but do so only because I enjoy the experience so much every time. The building itself is clean and tidy offering a comfortable bar, restaurant or large garden (with very comfy chairs). The staff are always exceptional and the food really is consistently amongst the best I have ever eaten. Portions are generous... More

Whilst living in Henley for many years, I have always stayed within the Henley area, but decided I would try the Baskerville in Lower shiplake. The food was absolutely fantastic, it's came very quick but you could see and taste that it was not rushed, the service from the the front of house staff was quick, and they were ever... More

Overpriced meal for meagre portions. Having ordered a selection of starters we were shocked at how little food we received for our money (i.e platter consisting of one piece of ham and one tiny boquerones for £10.00) We notified the staff at the laughable portion, however they were very unhelpful. In addition, the outside area was not set out for... More

These two young ladies’ order for lunch amounted to two starter dishes one, Caramelised shallot tarte tatin with peppered goats cheese, rosemary balsamic reduction and roast fig and the other, Spanish tapas plate (not platter) of Serrano ham, chorizo, marinated olives, anchovies, Manchego cheese, sun blushed tomatoes and Lawlor’s bread. The former priced at £7.50 and the latter at £9.50.... More

After waiting well over half an hour for our starters to arrive, thy were cold, we were not asked how anything was. When we got the main courses, the vegetables were so over cooked they were nearly inedible, the pastry top on the pie was freezing cold and was clearly not home made and had obviously come off the back... We believe this to be a malicious review. It was originally posted as a hotel review. We pointed out to Tripadvisor that this reviewer did not stay with us and we believed it to be malicious. Tripadvisor accepted this and in its wisdom transferred it to our restaurant page as if this made it any more credible. When asked again,... More

30 aug visit. What a brilliant place! First visit for us. We were looking for a non fussy , and great food nearby. Baskerville fills the profile without a doubt. We called to ask if we can book an early table on sat night 30 August. Kevin the floor manager was giving a staff briefing when we arrived to ensure... More

We arrived with no notice on a busy Friday night (we were on a canal boat trip and weren't able to plan ahead with any certainty) and asked for a table for four; despite the pub being really busy, we were accommodated and had a very nice meal; the staff were very friendly.

When we go walking along the Thames Path from Reading to Henley on Thames, we usually stop at the Baskerville for lunch, before going on to Henley. We have always found the staff very helpful and friendly, and of course, we have never been let down food-wise. We have always found the food quality to be outstanding. We've had many... More

Never disappoints and a firm favourite for us for lunch or dinner -Always a warm welcome from the very caring host, Kevin. A menu that makes it difficult to decide as the food is so fantastic. Good wine list and friendly and warm staff. M Ridsdale

A group of 7 of us went to The Baskerville for an evening meal. The place has a short-ish menu covering meat, fish and vegetarian, all well described. We had starters and mains - all of which were of a good size, well cooked and presented. Service is slightly slow, but everything is prepared from fresh, so this is only... More

We stopped in at the Baskerville today looking for a light snack and a mid-afternoon drink. The menu was a set lunch menu, but the staff were extremely accommodating, allowing us to split the lunch between the two of us. The garden patio area is beautiful, and the sunshine certainly added to the day. We ordered a hamburger and a... More
