Beans and Cornbread Never Disappoints!

This is my family's "go to" spot for down home cooking that reminds us of meals our mothers used to make. It can get crowded on the weekends, so be prepared to wait for seating; however, the wait is definitely worth it. I must admit a few of the appetizer items are overpriced, but for the most... read more

My family moved to Texas 2 years ago. Whenever I am home I must get my fix! Everything I have tried on the menu is delicious. My favorite plate is the salmon croquettes with sides of yams, greens & macaroni and cheese.

We are currently in temporary housing and we eat out every night and have made several stops at the Beans & Cornbread on Northwestern Hwy. I've enjoyed the food and service. My best meals were the smothered pork chops and the southern fried catfish. The portions were generous and the taste was excellent. I celebrated my birthday earlier this month... More

Nice stop at this nice Southern cookin joint. The theme is nice for those lookin for some good cookin. Grateful for the boat of cornbread. The cajun pork-chop was a little dry. The mac and cheese over cooked, seems like warmed in the microwave. Red beans were a nice side dish. Nice people, but unlikely I will ever want to... More

I ordered salmon topped with gumbo; food was served lukewarm. Salmon was dry and overcooked. Gumbo was mostly sauce with only a few pieces of meat or vegetable. Cornbread was dry and so were the mini sweet potato muffins - and very small pieces. I lived in the South for 17 years and the food served here was southern in... More

My husband and I often travel to the Detroit area to visit family, and when we do, we always try to make it over to Beans & Cornbread. Nothing like this in the lily white part of Northern California where we live. The atmosphere is so convivial and welcoming, and the food is first rate. I especially love the collards... More

I enjoyed eating here but can't seem to get others to join me for a meal or drinks and snacks. Not sure why. The food has always been good.

We have been going to Beans and Cornbread for years and have enjoyed the food. Today's lunch was great for the husband (catfish and sides) but not so great for me. The normally delicious shrimp and grits was sub par as the grits were undercooked, lumpy and had no flavor. The bigger issue was that, for the second time in... More
