Nice place for dinner

Tello is a wonderful place to have dinner in South Haven. It's probably the fanciest restaurant in town with great food, good wine and a cozy atmosphere. We had the white fish which was superb! Don't get me wrong, Tello is a good restaurant. Food is good, service is good, surroundings are comfortable. There's just this really pretentious feeling there as well as the other restaurants owned by this group. Do you really need 3 servers? Do they each have to introduce themselves and basically explain what their role is? I recommend it for a... More

We had walked by a couple times, but decided to try this for our last meal of the week. Very glad we did! We had a very attention and fun waiter; and the bartender gave us personal attention as well! There are unique dishes, and everything we tried was pleasing. The Truffle Egg appetizer was our favorite. MUST try that,... More

We got in about 5:30 and partook of Happy Hour. The pizza was fantastic. The crust was perfect and the four cheeses was a great blend. So glad we stopped here for dinner.

We went to Tello's during a sisters week in South Haven. The reviews were good and the place looked busy, but I would have to say it was just so-so. The red sauce with the risotto ball appetizer was very good, but the balls themselves were kind of mushy and tasteless. I decided on the whitefish for my entree, but... More

Went to Tello's expecting outstanding service and exceptional fine dining. The atmosphere is very nice but very noisy. Wasn't crowded on a Saturday evening around 7:30, and we were seated immediately. Guests at tables on both sides discouraged us from ordering chicken Marsala, so my companion ordered the veal -- very tough even though the chef had tenderized the serving... More

This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend. It was within walking distance of our B&B, so we gave it a try. They were not busy, so we did not encounter the slow service or loud noise levels that others complained of. Our food was served promptly. My husband loved his shrimp dish (a special that included shrimp and... More

We looked forward to dinner at this restaurant based upon the other reviews. Hostess was pleasant and they were not busy. There were plenty of open tables, but my wife and I were seated in between two groups of people 12" away to each side. Looking around there were plenty of spaces available for people to have some privacy of... More

We had reservations but the young girl at the front desk told us the manager would not seat anyone because they ran out of menus. This is the first time we ever heard that from a hostess, and we asked if we could sit at our empty table anyway. She said no because the manager would not let her. Others... More

I've been to Tello a number of times in the past couple years and it has been consistently good each time. The wine is good, the service is good, and the food is quality. My favorite entree is the sausage risotto ($18). The prices are a little higher than you might find elsewhere in South Haven, but I think you... More
