They have changed Chef's and it's not as good now :-(

We return to BRT every time we visit and were sad to learn the menu has changed - service was slow and our food was cold when it arrived. Hope they can recover from losing their star chef who made amazing sauces and the best baked beans ever.....

Please note we HAVE NOT changed Chefs and we expect to provide the same quality food each and every visit. We do make changes to the menu seasonally and unfortunately one of the things that needs to come off in the winter is the baked beans. Our food is made fresh daily and some items fall victim to slower seasonal... More

Went to watch college football, but was pleasantly surprised with the delicious food. Spicy shrimp appetizer was delicious and the perch was top notch, not greasy or heavy breading. Sides of vinegar based cole slaw and baked beans really good. Live band and met some fun people.

We come here often. The service is always great and they can seat large parties quickly. Plus it's right down town!!! They have a nice variety of American cuisine. They easily seat large parties too!

The restaurant is right on the corner over looking the marina/pier in downtown South Port. Very nice area with lots of shopping. The restaurant was active with games on the TV's. We ordered promptly but it seemed to take a little too long for the food to arrive. I am not sure if this is the norm. I ordered BBQ... More

My husband and I recently stopped in South Haven on our travels up the western coast of Michigan. As Michiganders, we've been to many cities along Lake Michigan, but somehow we missed the beautiful town of South Haven. The marina gave us a list of restaurants and I checked Trip Advisor for reviews. We had our choice of great places,... More

The guy with the Beard and long mustache wouldnt let us bring our bicycles inside even though they were not busy and he even tried to send us to another reataurant down the street the nice female waitress let us store them downstairs. (thanks again). The food was good I had the Tavern Burger. It was cooked how I wanted... More

I was heading to beach and needed a pit stop. Dan was a one man show, a Bears Fan, extra plus and was right at our service. Again Ice Cold Beer, habit forming and time for me to finally try a ripper. You know, those tubes of Who Knows What Pork, wrapped in Bacon and deep fried, just like on... More

We had a fabulous lunch at the Black River Tavern. Very attentive waiter and great service. The perch was out of this world, homemade cocktail sauce with it, and wonderful twist on coleslaw with great baked beans. Our first stop on a road trip up the coast of West Michigan.

Crab cakes, sweet heat wings, killer burgers, perch, Reuben, Italian beef, and lots of characters. Have fun! We like it. Awesome stand up comedy downstairs on Saturdays also. Kind of a Chicago bar/restaurant!
