The waitress was horrible. The chicken in the tacos were obviously previously processed and frozen. The prices were inflated for what you got. It was apparent once we received our food why the restaurant wasn't busy at lunch time.

I have eaten at this restaurant several times and it never disappoints. It's a bar with GREAT food. The atmosphere is "bar-ish" but it the wait staff is warm and helpful. The lake perch basket, tacos, whatever is AWESOME. It is soooo flakey and tender you can barely pick it up with a fork. I have tried several things and... More

Comfortable atmosphere...great food....Perch Taco's!!...and everybody knows my name! Employees are friendly, food is delicious and well prices...and one great table overlooks the lighthouse and Lake Michigan. Comedy night is fun. Love this place.

This is a great place to go for cheap beer, decent fried food, and lots of fun. They always have a beer special, the weekend evenings are crowded and they have recently been bringing in bands and comedians on the weekends. We always have a good time!

We brought our 6, 10, and 12-year-old kids to this restaurant the week after the 4th of July holiday, and ended up walking out. Our first table was right against a man who, having clearly had too many, thought it was appropriate to bump-and-grind with his significant other. We moved from that scene to a table next to the pool... More

We're in South Haven on most weekends during the summer. We spend most of our time at Captain Lou's, Idler, Yorks, and Joe's. However, Black River Tavern (BRT) has always been decent when we stop in. There's often times live music and the staff have always provided good service. There are some pool tables and plenty of tables to sit... More

We were on a road trip and arrived in South Haven at lunch time. The tavern is located right on the main street which made for fun people watching--we asked to eat outside. The server nicely told us that we couldn't drink out there. It was fine with us but I don't know if no drinking outside is always the... More

Had a family friendly atmosphere during the day. Not sure what it looks like at night. From the outside looked just like a regular bar and in turned out to be family friendly. Great food and reasonably priced. Fish and chips kinda like those in England except chips were smaller and could use less salt. Fish was cod. Awesome!!!! Comes... More

We decided to eat here for our supper and the service was awesome. They were right on us with whatever we needed and the restaurant was clean and the food was yummy.

Stopped in for lunch. I liked the atmosphere inside. They had a nice menu. I had the chicken taco's and they were excellent. I would come back for sure if were in town again.
