Visually, Thirsty Perch is a nice enough place. A nice looking bar area and a nice roomy seating area. No out-door seating. Our first impression started out bad. We were meeting family. We arrived early. Even though we had a reservation for a large group and there were almost no other customers, they didn't set up our table until everyone... More

The atmosphere, location, and food was quite good! I dropped by with my fiance and he ordered the fish tacos and i ordered the calamari Caesar salad. I really liked that the calamari was very lightly breaded and fried, so it wasn't dripping with oil. The taste and quality was quite good. Our server wasn't very friendly, but other than... More

Whitefish spread was superb, but kitchen was understaffed which made it take quite a while. Worth the wait and the lighted dusted perch was just as good.

I liked the appetizer of a whitefish spread. We also got the potato skins which were ok. I ordered the salmon which was not nearly as tasty as the menu makes it sound. I never miss a meal and normally take food as left-overs; this I didn't even eat half of and no doggie bag for me. My boyfriend had... More

They made us wait for seating on a Thurs. night because they were "backed up" when half the tables in the place were empty. Even then service is very slow, both to order and to get food. It is not worth the wait. The perch is their "signature dish" and it was badly overseasoned, very salty and spicy, not crispy.... More

My last night in town for a short visit, went for Lake Michigan Perch, 6 perch fillets - $19, could have been hotter, but had my taste of perch for this visit. Service was slow - a table that came in the same time as we did, were finished and left before our food arrived. Your experience may be different,... More

Giving a Rating was a bit hard since we never got to actually EAT here. My husband and I came to South Haven from St Joseph to eat at the Thirsty Perch. We came up on a Thursday evening because we don't like to fight the weekend dinner crowds. (we came after 8pm too so not at a prime dining... More

They were all out of salmon, which i heard good things about. Big disappointment there. Ordered a mixed drink that was just an alcohol taste and no other flavor too it. Their calamari was amazing! Great flavor, and they actually knew how to cook it well. They steam the crabs there which is way better than boiling them. Unfortunatly, they... More

Was there once a total waste of my time and money, bad service bad food. The perch are thirsty because they salt them into oblivion and lets just call it fish jerky if that is a cuisine? Maybe a bad night but I stayed a local B&B and had the same reviews from the owners guest reviews. Go to Clementine's... More
