The service was very slow. We waited about 45 minutes with 3 kids for our food. After 30 minutes I asked for bead and butter which we quickly devoured. The kids had burgers and chicken tenders and seemed satisfied. We had the perch, pan-fried and slightly burnt. The clam chowder was watery and inedible. There are better choices in South... More

Off the main drag in South Haven, and not very busy when we got there late. My pan fried perch was good, my husband's battered/fried whitefish was just ok. Our waitress was very accommodating, however, letting us try a type of beer we'd never had before purchasing.

If you enjoy a fabulous bouillabaisse, this is the place!! However, our waitress did spill my husband's dinner on him with no hint of compensation (he did catch the flying hot fish).

They have beer and perch. The fish sandwich is delish... We used to go there when the place was called The BBC. It was a super fun bar to go look at chicks. Alas, it closed and the perch is there now. But I digress. They have some local Michigan brews which are very good!

My husband and I for our first anniversary eent to the Thirsty Perch and were kind of let down. We arrived very early and were seated right away. Our drink orders were taken and they had no pop for me to drink (I dont drink alcohol so pop is my splurge when going out) they gave me 4 flat pops... More

We had a group of 8 and got there when it first opened. They us sit down before they could take our orders - which was nice of them. We sat on the upper deck, which as a more limited menu, but it was good for us. I think we all ordered some kind of fish sandwiches, all good. Service... More

We tried to eat downtown but every stop had a 45-minute plus wait time. We walked up to Main St and were seated immediately. There were a couple open tables - the service was friendly and attentive. I was worried by the name but there were limited options beyond seafood. My husband had the cajun shrimp boil and it was... More

The menu was limited, but everything we ordered was wonderful. The problem was service. We were told on a Thursday evening that there would be 30-45 minute wait. There were several open tables, so we assumed they were short on servers. We watched people leaving grumbling and were a little concerned. Once we were seated our server did not appear... More

The service and food were good. The booths are made comfortable with the addition of cushions for your back. The beer prices are of good value. They carry only dry white wines which was disappointing. I liked the music playing in the background. It seems they are a bit overpriced with the competition in the area.

After going there for several years, I am crossing this one off my list. They are in a constant state of re-inventing themselves, with the result that they took something quite nice and ruined it. People return to a restaurant because they enjoyed the food and experience, but with Thirsty Perch you never know what you will encounter from one... More
