The restaurant looks updated since my last visit. They've added a small waiting area which is nice. Very clean. Had the italian stomboli for lunch and it was excellent as was the balsamic dipping sauce for it. At $8.99 a real bargain in my opinion. Great glass of fresh iced tea (so hard to get anywhere but home). Have never... More

What a nice place to eat, we stopped by after watching the boats at the locks, had the special and it truly was special, super fresh and full of flavour! Don't miss out on this gem! It's not very big so might want to call ahead.

I ate dinner here with a group while here for a conference. The walleye was okay, but minimally seasoned, and the duchess potatoes were dry. For the price paid, the food should have been tastier and there should have been a salad and bread included.

Our waiter was Charlie. My husband jokingly said, so the Charlie crab sandwich is named after you? And the water responds well, yes actually. And then he proceeds to tell us this menu item was inspired by and named after his sister, his mother, his father, his brother in law...etc. Incredibly friendly young man and the food was good too.... So happy we found this charming place for lunch. It's calm, relaxing, and clean with a good menu. The food and service were excellent. Wish we had a place like this back home.

We made reservations for 8 (4 children) and had a very nice dinner. The planked whitefish was very good as was a pastie we order for an appetizer (had to try one since Karl's makes them from scratch). The pastie was very good. The only drawback was there was no beer. Karl's only serves wine, no liquor, or beer!

This quaint restaurant is right on the end of the locks (across the street) - the Lake Superior side. It is across the street from the locks and offers a great view if you are lucky enough to sit by a window like we did or on the upper level. We enjoyed some yummy food. I ordered a salad and... More

Visited here because we were in the Soo area and needed dinner. While Karl's is highly rated in Tripadvisor, we would say it's not terrific nor awful. It's just another restaurant in the shape of a ship inside and outside with better than average food but certainly not worth writing home about. Our server was not well-informed -- perhaps new... Very good food, and selection. The place looks like a boat but don't let that sway you. It is an excellent restaurant.

Karl's was everything the reviews said and more. We were lucky to get seated by a front window directly across from the Soo Lock. A freighter came through while we were there. Our waitress, Carrie (sp?), was helpful with suggestions about food and wine (which they make themselves and will cork the bottle 'to go' at no charge). We had... More
