Since 1986, Ida Red's Cottage has been serving Made-from-scratch breakfasts and lunches, year 'round. Our little place is a busy one, and our kind of cooking takes time, so expect to have to wait, sometimes a long time, during the summer season.

Corn bread cheddar muffin Mmmmmmmmmmm

We visited Saugatuck on a late fall Friday. Having read the mixed reviews, I wasn't sure what to expect. We loved Ida's! The food was good, waitress very friendly and attentive, and the place was nicely decorated for Halloween. I especially enjoyed the homemade cheddar muffin. It was delicious!

Great place for breakfast! Portions are huge. I had the California breakfast and it was excellent, fluffy and was just what an omelet should be. Not just scrambled eggs folded over, but a REAL omelet. All Other food was well prepared and served hot. Service was tops! Would come back again and again!

This is the best breakfast on the west coast of Michigan. The food is always very good with a staff that have been there forever. Always busy, only open for breakfast and lunch with limited hours in the summer. Prepare to wait if you aren't there early!

We arrived early on a sunday morning before the crowds and so thankful we did. This place gets packed. It seems like a lot of locals eat here as well as the tourists. Which I think is a good sign. I am a big breakfast fan and Ida's hit the spot. Home made everything including muffins which I thought were... More

I read the reviews on Ida's here and they are mostly true. They are into good food but need to match the food with their customer experience. They have no hostess, you sign in on a clipboard at the counter. You will not know how long the wait is without a hostess. They also only take cash, so make sure... More

If you can get in, you will have a breakfast with a view of the Kalamazoo River and have the best breakfast ever. I had the omelet of the day and it was great. Didn't feel like eating for the rest of the day! Even if you have to wait, it is well worth it.

Great value for excellent food. Outside garden is the best place to dine here, but inside is nice, too - just noisier. Even with a smaller order portion, I could not finish. Service was also great.

Waited until late morning on a weekday to go, knowing how crowded it usually is. Four of us sat outside and had a great late breakfast. Some interesting menu offerings -- a lot of scrambles with unusual, appealing ingredients. I had one with peas, scallions, and mushrooms, called 'The Chinese". Large portion that still felt pretty virtuous because of its... More
