I could not stay for dinner but had beers, chips and salsa two afternoons in early October. The service was very good as were the chips and the prices were reasonable. Will visit again when I can stay to eat.

This place has good food and our service was friendly. I would definitely recommend the tacos and burritos versus the enchiladas!

Authentic?? Mexican food. Atmosphere is unique, with Mexican decor. Service was slow and food was so-so. View of lake from dining room was nice. Seasonal business, so they are closed during the winter months.

Not only did it take us 10 minutes to get a drink order then 10 more minutes to get our drinks. it took another 20 to take our order and another 30 plus to get our food. service was horrible. it was not authentic Mexican at all. food was not great. My fiance had a quesadilla that was somewhat warm... More

Good tacos. Beef and pork in crunchy ( fried ) corn shell were very good. Seafood enchilada had good flavor. Salsa was excellent, but was disappointed with chips. They were not homemade just bagged chips.

This is the only place that sells Mexican food in the area. We love Mexican food so we decided to try. The whitefish tacos had too much mayo and the habanero chicken tacos were way too spicy and I love spicy food. Service was ok.

The food and service were both excellent. The food was hot and tasty, and the service was fast and friendly!

Jose's Cantina is a rare find. Whoever would expect an excellent Mexican restaurant in a place like St. Ignace? We didn't, but went to Jose's because we had read about the award winning tacos. Our first treat was the decor, which makes you think that you are in a cozy Mexican village. The next was the warm chips with the... More

We ate here because it sounded good, and was across the street from our hotel. Food wise, it was great, my wife got the cantina burrito and ate it almost all the way up. I got the Diablo burrito del murtè. (Not a joke on that hot warning, I was in tears) Beer prices were reasonable. Drinks were in larger... More

The service was not very good. There was only 2 servers, for a place that was 1/2 to 3/4's full.Once we ordered a drink,it took us another 15 mins. to get it.After ordering our food,it came out in a reasonable amount of time.I ordered the Cheese Enchillatas. They were not very good.Would not recommend going there.
