Town Tavern is a cool, contemporary American classic In 2007, a modern take on a traditional 1930s tavern opened its doors and made its mark on the busy streets of downtown Royal Oak. Town Tavern is a dining destination bursting with personality and serving up American comfort food with flair. When renowned designer Ron Rea was tasked with creating a contemporary version of an old-time neighborhood tavern, he infused the space with an extra-long bar, dark mahogany and rich red bar stools. Walls of the restaurant are filled with old photographs of Royal Oak, while walls of the bar are stocked to the ceiling with what's needed to create your favorite cocktail. Don't let the traditional tavern vibe fool you. Our menu is anything but typical. You'll find the finest bar plates, with a creative twist. The cheeseburgers top many best-of lists. Guests come from far and wide for our award-winning Venison Chili. And our Lobster Mac and Cheese is comfort food with upscale appeal. Of course, every dish deserves a beverage to match it. Choose yours from our extensive wine, beer and cocktail list. Town Tavern is that comfortable dining and drinking establishment that lends itself to leisurely meals and long conversations. Spend time here and you'll quickly understand why we're the talk of the town.

A New Year's Resolution of mine was to visit all the restaurants of Robert's Restaurant Group so of course Town Tavern fell in the ranks. But I was not as impressed with this restaurant as I was with the others. Because of the lack of flavor and heat (temperature) the food left me wanting. The service was good and I... More

The drinks came quick. The place is easy to get to and close to parking meter lot. The steak (Rib Eye was good. Nicely cooked the way I asked. This is more of an after work place than a family restaurant.

We were only there for drinks but the cocktails were delicious! They were very crowded that night so we sat at the bar. The service wasn't the best but I know the bartenders were busy with there being so many customers that night. It was still a pleasant experience and I enjoyed the atmosphere! I would love to go back... More

I visited the Town Tavern with a group of 6 friends. We had a few drinks at the bar and stayed for dinner. They had a wonderful craft beer selection and a great dinner menu. I had the pulled chicken salad and parmesan truffle fries for an appetizer - both excellent. Best of all, the service was outstanding.

I had the best Rib Eye I've ever tasted here a couple weeks ago! The Town Tavern is our annual holiday gathering place and we are never disappointed. The bar staff is great, the drinks and appetizers tasty and the Rib Eye the best ever! Looking forward to next visit!

The Town Tavern has a great vibe, from the minute you walk in the door. Fun to have a beer up by the bar, but best part is the food! You must try the Lobster Mac n Cheese, it is so delicious. Anytime I have eaten there, the people with me have loved what they ordered, from Steak to salads... More

Ate at the Town Tavern on the last day of vacation, celebrating a birthday too. They have a generous drink menu and many selections of local craft beers for those who enjoy those. The food was all excellent, salads, fresh, crisp, main courses were spot on. My meal was one of the nights special, a 12 oz rib-eye steak, cooked... More

I read the reviews of our favorite restaurant and must share. If you can't find an amazing and delicious item on their menu you shouldn't go out to eat! The regular menu is awesome but we can usually order off the special menu every weekend(Friday and Saturday) and walk away extremely happy and satiated. That's the food. The staff, from... More

Four for dinner before a show at the Royal Oak Music Theatre. Call ahead seating available and we were seated promptly. Mary our server was excellent. The place was very crowded and loud to the point the four of us could not have a conversation without yelling!! Recommend the French onion soup and lobster nachos. Despite good food and service,...
