Friendly. Original Royal Oak Business

Hermann's Bakery was there before the Royal Oak rents got so ridiculous that no one can afford to stay there. Just a good old school bakery with tasty treats

I didn't finish either of the cheesecake, it was that bad, tried the sour donut as well, that was average, but not good enough to come back. The pastries and desserts are much better at Astoria or Holiday Market and the donuts at Dutch Girl Donuts are 200% better than anything at this bakery. I was thoroughly disappointed since it... Greasy! What is it with all the lard and salt they use? I mean you can taste it! ff you need to rapidly gain weight one or two visits should suffice. Has been there forever and this makes me glad I did not grow up in RO.where it is touted as the oldest business in its increasingly crazy downtown.

This is a great local bakery and has been there for a really long time. I love the cookies, they have many varieties. If you are getting goods for the holidays I would pre-order pies.

We stopped in for a small bite of breakfast to tide us over, and were really glad we did. Everyone there was friendly and we felt right at home. They heated up the quiche and knish for us, and we served ourselves coffee from the pot in the corner. We also shared a cherry Danish. Everything we had was delicious.... More

Excellent donuts and cinamon rolls. The bread is also first rate, as are the coffee cakes. Let's face it - this isn't health food - you can tell 'cause it tastes really good!

Reminds me of a bakery that you would see in the movie Pleasantville. Old fashioned, good pastries. Great bread ends for holidays. Not very friendly staff but the food quality makes up for the lack of personality.

Wonderful independent bakery that has been in the same location for decades because it sells good wholesome baked goods at a reasonable price. The only problem is, catching them when they're open and the line is short.

Easily the best bakery in royal oak. The guy here is still making everything the old fashioned way. I believe he supplies most of the restuarants in royal oak with their bread including bastone and black finn. they also sell in the farmers market on saturday. There is no comparison to this place and i would not buy from anywhere... More
