Very good, but expensive.

We went on a Saturday night during Royal Oak restaurant week. The place was very busy. We called ahead and got a table with only a 15 minute wait. The food was great. The service too. We have a tendency to look for heart Happy Hour places around Detroit that last layer than 6:00 pm and that offer foods and drink specials. Last Friday we were going to have dinner at Tom's as part of Royal Oak restaurant week. We decided to have a drink at the bar and were excited to find that their Happy... More

On our way to an event in Royal Oak last evening, my son and I walked by Tom's Oyster Bar and decided to have dinner there. I am so glad we did! While we did not order oysters, we decided to share two yummy appetizers. The coconut shrimp was amazing, as was the crab bruschetta! We each had the clam... More

took our son for his 20th birthday for lunch - absolutely love the fish tacos - crispy fish and not greasy at all - grilled veggies on the side with the garlic pesto was awesome - shared a dozen of PEI oysters and creole fried oysters - absolutely delicious - we have been there three separate times and have never... As my husband is an oyster fanatic, he always orders a dozen with a side of clam chowder to the side. Tom's hot baked rolls are perfect to soak up the sauce! My choice is either fish & chips or sautéed perch, both served with delicious coleslaw.

Have been frequenting Toms for years as we have been in RO for 30 years. This is one of my favorite spots. Their clam chowder is the very best around! Their drinks and dishes are delicious!

We have been here twice now. The oysters are wonderful. I never knew there were so many types to chose from. Also Tom's lobster Bisque is out of this world. Big chunks of lobster, a meal in itself. They have a great variety of beer including craft beer. Love this place!!

I have given this place the benefit of having a off night in my previous visits. To my surprise nothing has gotten better. It has a very average menu and it is executed very slowly and poorly. Food is not the only thing lacking, service is equally absent and disconnected. I will not give them another chance. There are too... More

My girl friend and I often went to Tom's because it has a great location, a nice atmosphere and a varied menu. The waitstaff has always been suspect but the other advantages outweighed that. With the opening of Ale Mary's, the focus seems to be off TOB and the menu selection and quality has suffered. Many longtime staples are off... More

We ate at Tom's about 3 years ago and raved about the food and the service. Wow, we must have hit a bad night or things have really gone down hill. We had a short wait, half an hour, around 6PM. We were seated in the bar area, which was extremely loud. I found the wine list limited, but the... More
