Best burger ever anywhere

Been to many places 4 or 5 countries, but still the best burger I've ever had! Yes folks, it's sort of a bar but wow those burgers!

Like anybody who has lived in the area for years, I have been here dozens of times. I've always thought it was overrated. Good, not very good and certainly not great. It used to be a winter place for us because it is so dark and felt a little cozy. Now it just feels dirty, outdated, and never worth the... More

The Redcoat Tavern on Woodward north of 13 Mile has been providing good food for more than 5 decades. That tradition continues, & we stopped to enjoy a good hamburger and some Chicken Pot Pie. My “Original Redcoat Special Hamburger” ($8.75) was very good & cooked according to my request. The waiter asked about fries & I said yes. Little... More

Best burgers in town. Try the soups. I like them all. They have an excellent prime rib. Nice atmosphere. Nice staff. Little pricey but worth it.

Sadly, after years of frequenting this establishment, their food quality has taken a significant dip. The Piedmontese burger they claimed was more lean than ostrich was the most choice of ground beef myself and others had ever tasted. Better than Kobe! We have been 3 times this year and each time we said the same. "Something has changed.

The best burgers! Onion rings are awesome too. Be sure to order them well done or they are too soggy.

Red Coat Tavern has been a mainstay in Royal Oak for years...the dimly lit restaurant and bar do not equate to fine dinning, but the food and service are ALWAYS solid. To be truthful, I've never had anything except for their delicious burgers. They are cooked to order, have any number of toppings and are reasonably priced.

Voted one of the best hamburgers in metro Detroit, so it definitely lives up to its claim! Very pricey though. Would give it top ratings if it weren't for the dark, dated atmosphere with its dark red lights that makes it even harder to see what your eating. Long lines and long waits prove their food is A++

I honestly do not get the hype about this restaurant. It is extremely dark inside, so maybe that is the appeal. Besides the very dark and somewhat stale atmosphere, I was hopeful the food would make up for it. That did not happen. I had a reuben sandwhich and I was disappointed when the sandwhich was not grilled because the... More

Red Coat Tavern primarily serves hamburgers, but they do have a few other options on the menu. Interesting interior decor, lots of red vinyl, red lights, but fun. Had a Scotch Egg as an appetizer - absolutely delicious. I could eat a dozen of them! Burgers are large, messy, and wonderfully tasty. You can order your burger about any way... More
