Great food!

Red Coat has the most incredible food. The Piedmontese burger is out of this world. The spicy fries go great with the burger. The only drawback is that you may have to wait a bit. Try and get there early, otherwise there will be a line. Heads up, they do carry out too!

If you want great food but don't care about your surroundings or the noise, this is the place. Burgers, Cubano Sandwich, Fish and Chips, ALL GOOD. The furnishings appear decades old and are not too comfortable. Maybe that's how they can pack so many people in and get them not to stay too long. The onion rings are the absolute... More

Being new at this area, my husband's coworker recommended this place to us. The burger, clam chowder, fish and chips, and scotch eggs ... all were wonderful. Most famous restaurants around make their food too salty for me, but this place was almost perfect! Staffs were very kind, too. While we were waiting outside (because the line was so long... More

I grew up in the area and this was one of my favorites. I brought my 2 adult kids for lunch on Sunday and they loved it as much as I did. Nothing has changed!!! New England chowder was as wonderful as I remembered. My daughter said if she was at home she would've licked the bowl!!! My son ordered... More

This is a "must go to" place. The burgers are great and they may have the best onion rings I have ever had. We started with the beef tips as an appetizer, I highly recommend you do the same! To top it all off, the beer selection is world class!

An institution in Detroit for late night food. Burgers and the Mt Vernon are a great way to end a night out with friends.

Red Coat is good. It has a long-standing tradition in the area. However, I would not say the food is great. We have lived in the area for years so we go. Always a packed house.

Burgers are wonderful, a little pricey, but wonderful. Cooked to order with wide assortment of add ons. Make sure to order the onion rings, if you can't finish, don't worry, they crisp up nicely when reheating in the oven. Clam chowder is also great. It does keep busy, but worth the wait, or try to go at off times. On... More

I am originally from Michigan and every time we come home, try to make a pit stop into Red Coat. Excellent burgers, crisp green salads and cottage fries. It goes to show how great the food is as Red Coat has been here forever. This place is an institution!
