Best burger, hands down!

I have been going to Red Coat since I was a teenager (I'm 46 now) and I still can't find a better burger anywhere, in all my travels. It's a small, cozy place with a great atmosphere. Sometimes we like to sit at the bar. Fun and low key. There's always a wait, but that's to be expected for... read more

People (especially us) have been going to Red Coat for years. It may not be big and spacious, but it is snug and cosy.Just the right ambience for friends to be together. And to top it off, the food is great. LOVEthe fried mushrooms; the corned beef; fish and chips; and the bar is well stocked. The prices are affordable. Just a... More

I have eaten hamburgers in many countries on 5 continents and Red Coat Tavern (both locations) are the best! The piedmontese beef (low-fat) is yummy and I love the shredded lettuce and mayo-based sauce. Good fries, clam-chowder, and nice selection of tavern ales/Belgian beers! I tell anyone that says they're visiting MI to go here. Ok, perhaps I'm a little... More

Red Coat has been a Royal Oak mainstay for a number years due to it's incredible tasting burgers and soup. This place is busy...always, so be prepared to wait more than 30 minutes or go early. The Piedmontese Burger is absolutely phenomenal and 98% fat-free. Plus, you can customize your toppings to your delight. The Clam Chowder is incredibly thick... More

As everyone says you come here for the burger. And just like everyone else its usually what I get. Its a burger. A pretty good one. Its not the best I've had but its certainly not the worst. A bit pricy, sure, but I dont think its over the top. Ive also had their prime rib which was spectacular. They... More

I have heard about Red Coat Tavern burgers for a long time and really anticipated a fabulous burger. What I got was a so-so burger for an outrageous price served by an uppity waitress (Cristina?) Not a place I will hurry back too. Wish it had lived up to its two:(

The four of us had heard how great this pub was suppose to be for its burgers. Like several other reviews we thought the burgers themselves were missing any seasoning and even with the toppings they were tasteless. Sure they are large and look impressive on the plate, but still the taste quality was lacking. The fried mushrooms app and... More

If you want to pay $40.00 for lunch for just two people for burgers, fries, and two cokes, then have at it...but, to me, 40 bucks for just two burgers, two fries and two cokes is just overpriced in my eyes (and we did not even have a cocktail either(imagine what our bill would have been if we would have had a...
