I have been eating at this restaurant since the '50's. It is a flashback to simpler times. They are famous for their huge hamburgers. The onion rings are the size of donuts. They make the shakes right in front of you and have scores of flavors. It is a fun experience to twirl around on the stools to 60's tunes.

Knapp's is an institution in Rochester. It still has my favorite hamburger. It is fresh, very thin and large. The taste is wonderful and you can add onions and relish to your liking. The chocolate malt is large enough to share, and reminds me of the malts I used to have with my grandfather. Be warned, the cost is higher... More

If you ask, you can get THICK malts/milkshakes. Used to get them without asking. Several flavors of malts/milkshakes. The hamburg buns are made by the bakery next door. Good seasoned fries, huge onion rings. The service is always good. Sit at a booth or at the counter on turning top stools. Grilled ham/cheese is good. Cleanliness can be an issue... More

Choose a booth or sit on the stools at the dairy bar. Fantastic malts, floats, and shakes made the old fashioned way. Popular, so the place can fill up with limited seating. Burgers are fair. Service is good. Fun experience. Flashback to the 50's / 60's.

went here with the grandkids and they experienced what it used to be like to get a burger/fries and milkshake/malt. fresh, quality ingredients!! Shake/malt served in metal container so you get to fill your tall shake glass 2 1/2 times - yummy

I know it is a Rochester establishment but I feel that the burgers and fries are just bland here. I enjoy the shakes and sitting up at the counter with my 5 and 2 year old. They get a kick out of it. The service last time was also lousy. We came in all happy and the server we got... More

Stopped with my husband for Malts, fries and burgers. It was so fun I felt like I needed a poodle skirt and he a varsity jacket. Had the mushroom Swiss burger and it was delicious!

We stopped in on a whim and what a delight - old fashioned malt shop. We just had a milkshake and Boston Cooler which had to be explained to me. The young server was quite amused that I didn't know what "vernors" was. Boston cooler is a shake with ginger ale and vanilla ice cream. It was quite good as... More

This time we just stopped in for ice cream, but the food here is fun and nostalgic. You can't beat the atmosphere both in and out. Inside it's like you stepped back in time to an old fashioned diner. Outside you have the beautiful views of downtown Rochester. We had malts and a Boston Cooler. Look it up - it's... More

I wish every town had a dairy bar. We had a Boston Cooler and a chocolate malt.....all good! Will be back again to try a milkshake (or two).
