We were surprised as we entered the sliding front door that it was so plain with nothing on the walls. Once we got farther the view was great when we entered the bar/dining area overlooking the St Clair River and Sarnia Ont Canada. We just had drinks and appetizers but the food was average at best. I would try it... More

I was staying at the attached Double Tree Hotel and usually I'm not very impressed with hotel restaurants but this was an exception. First I had breakfast, for $10 you get an excellent breakfast buffet, nearly as good as hilton garden inn buffets. The food choices were ideal, potatoes and eggs could have been slightly warmer but I believe by... More

We stopped by for lunch and had no idea what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised on every level. Very nice modern decor with great views. Our waitress was wonderful and got our meal to us quickly as we mentioned we had an appointment to get to. The food was excellent. The chef stopped by to ask how everything was... More

Been to Freighters several times as a couple and with a big family group and have always found this place to be a great choice. As you look around the city, this place seems to be the busiest of all the restaurants where I've eaten. ( I live in the area). In the beginning there were issues with service but... More

The Good: it's attached to the double tree, it's nicely decorated and there are lots of TVs. The Bad: breakfast, bland and salty food, week drinks. So it's a hotel restaurant that's a bit above average. Our group had several meals here over the course of a few days. No one had a great meal.

I had read some not so good reviews so had my doubts but decided to keep our reservation. So glad I did!! We had a great waitress, Amy who was prompt and delightful and very attentive to our needs. Food was out of this world. My wife had the salmon and I had the surf and turf and so good.... More

The weather was iffy and we had just been driving for 8 hours so we really didn't want to get back in the car to find another restaurant. I saw relatively good reviews for the restaurant on TA so we tried it. Bottom Line: Good food with a variety of options. I have food allergies that I needed to avoid... More

We stayed at the Double Tree and stopped over for happy hour...a great value ($2 draft beers, $3 Well drinks and $3 hors d'oeuvres) and beautiful view to go along with it!

Staying in Port Huron for the night, it was suggested by the Best Western Hotel staff where we were staying that we should eat at "Freighters". They did not lead us astray. The staff and servers were very courteous, pleasant and prompt. The view from the table of the Saint Clair river was outstanding. The meal was well prepared and... More
