City Park Grill, one of Petoskey’s oldest buildings, was originally constructed in 1875. McCarty Hall, as it was then known was a malesonly billiard parlor that offered cigars and “intoxicating beverages.” Today, City Park Grill maintains a loyal clientele with house-made cuisine, focusing on locally procured produce, meats and lake fish, an awardwinning wine collection and house-made biscuits straight from the oven

Nice place for either appetizers and beer or more formal dinners.

We liked dining near the front windows. The dining area directly past the bar was also a desirable destination. The menu offered a variety of appetizers, salads, entrees, and desserts. Our server suggested the pork chop dinner which included mashed potatoes and delicious buttery kale. The pork chop was beautifully prepared however I disliked it because it was smoked which... More

My wife & I went here last week while staying in Petoskey. We were seated almost immediately. There were families in the restaurant, which did not really bother us. It was a little noisy, but not problematic. A couple gentlemen at the next table were apparently bothered and were reseated elsewhere when they asked. After ordering, they brought us biscuits... This is one of our favorite places in Petoskey. My husband had seafood chowder and wedge salad which he loved. I had cheeseburger and it was wonderful. The atmosphere is so cute and an old Hemingway haunt. Gorgeous 1800's mahogany bar.

A Hemingway hangout ( the second bar stool from the left supposedly). Bar food is bar food, but you might want to try the Hanging Frank beer ( and ask how it got its name). .

By chance we found out about the quick history tour of the restaurant that takes you into the basement (they say it's haunted). The food was fantastic, but the tour and the guide made this memorable.

We arrived and didn't have reservations. It was only going to be a 30 minute wait so we walked over to Beards Brewery for a quick brew. Got back to City Park Grill and were seated in the front of the restaurant...best seats in the house. Dinner sized salads are tasty. I added a hangar steak to mine and was... More

We went here on vacation. The service and atmosphere were decent. The food was not worth what they charge! I ordered the filet with smoked wild mushrooms and kale. The smoke flavor overwhelmed everything and made my dinner inedible after only a few bites. We won't be coming back next time we are in the petoskey area.

Nice pub atmosphere, ordered the bacon barbecue burger, very good. It does have coleslaw on it so if your not a coleslaw fan ask to have it removed. The potato soup is rich and creamy, very good. Service is excellent with no waiting. Overall great experience near downtown area. PS... pay the meter!

The so-called 5 cheese penne is mac-n-cheese. Blech. A few in our party were very happy with their choices - Salmon was good. Delicious homemade biscuits are a nice treat. Atmosphere is family friendly with old world charm. Service was very good. The bar is fantastic! Would try again and order differently.

Thank you for your review. We do hope that you will come back to see us. We’re very sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your meal. Our Five Cheese Penne is intended to offset some of our spicier and more pronounced offerings such as our Jambalaya, to offer a balanced and well rounded American menu. The pasta itself... More
