Unfortunate but true. This place not worth going to. Didn't like it before and don't like it now. Food was paired together ridiculously and the "chef" marches around in street clothes. Seriously? Unprofessional staff. Its such a shame because the location and building has a lot of potential. We won't be back EVER.

If you're from another part of the country, don't assume that something you're accustomed to will be made the same here (e.g., chicken fried stead and cherry cheese cake). In that case, I'd stick with the morsels of the deep (ocean and Lake Huron), which are done nicely. I'm a big lake perch fan.

Dining at the Au Sable is always a gamble. We've been customers for years and our frequency of visits have declined with the restaurant. One meal may be good, but another horrible. One server may be efficient, friendly and competent, but another struggling and distracted. The place suffers because customers aren't into inconsistency. The decor is tired, dated and bland.... My husband and I stopped in for dinner on our color tour last week. He had the brisket and loved it. A very hearty piece of brisket and he liked the garlic buttered green beans. I had the chicken fettucini (which was delish) and ordered a glass of wine from the wine list to go with it. Their wine list... More

Third time and this is the last time. The blond has told me each time she is the owner. Do I really care? The hamburger was okay but nothing special and not worth the higher than normal price. The Chicken Marsala was terrible but the presentation was great. Chicken was over done, dry and tough. I think it was very... More

The food was mediocre at best. But the main problem with this place is the owners' attitude. They need to take a course in public relations if they want to keep this place open. I understand these are new owners but there is no excuse to be rude. I give them a tripple F F F for failure!

We don't know if it was a change of ownership or just management but things need to improve or we will not return. We've visited twice this summer and both times the service was horrible. This time I decided to write a review which hopefully will be read by the owners. We arrived last night about 6:30 and were seated... More

We have visited this restaurant in the past and it was good. This time the restaurant is no more than terrible. I only gave a 2 as the waitress was attentive and did a great job. Poor woman working at this restaurant. The Special of the Day was pork loin. It was not edible. Two tried it and it was... More

The place is off to a new start at a historic location. A new chef is producing really good meals. Drinks from a poorly stocked bar are unremarkable, but they will improve. Go there to eat, not drink.

I am so happy we didn't read the previous reviews. Our dinners were delicious. The bartender was nice. A waitress that was not waiting on us cleared our table. And staff cleaning when not waiting on people. All that made for a nice evening. I had yummy whitefish with a lobster bisque sauce on the side, mashed potatoes and perfectly... More
