Smuggler's Cove is most usually busy. If you go on a weekday evening, early, you may get right in and get a seat. Summer months are a bit nicer because you can sit on the deck. Watch the boaters, skiers, fishermen, all while you eat your Ribeye, Prime Rib, or Alaskan Pollock. It is a nice quaint restaurant with good... More

When we're staying at the lake during the summer months, the parking lot for this place is usually full and it's easy to see why. Good food at a decent price, in a clean tidy place. If you're luck and can sit next to a window, or out on the deck during the warm weather months, the view of the... More

We are fortunate to live in Newaygo County, deep in the woods and overlooking the Muskegon River. Because home cooked food and the view while dining is hard to beat, we eat out only occasionally unless we are traveling. But when we do decide to leave home for a casual meal, Smugglers is where we usually wind up. After reviewing... More

Many recommended this place to us in the area during a recent stay in Newaygo. Maybe our hopes were too high. We're not connoisseurs either. But we didn't understand all the raves. Food was mediocre, staff were nice, but REALLY is this all the area can show for itself? It was embarrassing. Drive to Newaygo and check the River Stop... More

Smuggler's Cove draw is that it is the only restaurant on this lake in Newaygo. The food is only average; maybe because of this monopoly? The decor is quite tired and needs an update. Service was alright. On the night we visited we had multiple servers although the place was half empty. ( bored; needed something to do?) I think... More

The ribeye is very good. The place could be updated, it is definitely lacking in decor but the view is great and so is the food.

Ate there again today on our visit to Newaygo. There are not many options in this town; this place probably has the best food. On a cold, winter's day, we sat inside, gazing across the frozen lake. We all had the ribeye special. It was lean and perfectly cooked; the owner hand trims the meat himself. Other good choices include... More

We recently visited this restaurant, with my in-laws, on their suggestion, on a beautiful fall color tour. They had been there before and were always pleased with it. We had a table overlooking the water, with a very nice wait staff. We were there for lunch, and we all had the special turkey wrap. A very good choice, would recommend... More

Eat inside, or out on the deck, over the lake. Seafood, ribs, burgers, etc. They even have frog legs. I'm even more impressed with the service, than the food. I've been there 4-5 times. All the servers work together to make sure you aren't waiting for service. Not on the main road....but not much of a detour either.

The view is the only thing it has going for it. We watch Restaurant Impossible all the time and can hear Robert Irvine cringing at this cheesy decor. Fake plantsand nautical theme over the top. The food is alright. It's one of those places that you would say "this is alright but nothing to write home to mom about." It's... More
