Great food, local place

We always seek out locally owned restaurants when on vacation. Skips is just that. They have a ribeye special Tues-Thurs which is a great value (16 oz). They give a great selection of seafood (I had broiled scallops that were divine) also. They have fine white table linens, awesome desserts. Note... read more

The peanut butter cheesecake alone is worth the trip. For dinner, I had the land and sea, and the ribeye and walleye were both great. Make sure you save room for dessert.

My wife and I went to Skip's last night for our 25th anniversary. We had looked forward to this meal for a long time and we were not let down. They made us feel very special there, including taking our picture and posting it on Facebook. Good PR move for them. My wife had a spectacular cut of prime rib,... More

Although we were trying to watch our intake for the upcoming wedding, the buffet looked wonderful with such an assortment of food! The meals we did end up having were great -- prime rib! The staff was very nice. Definitely a place we would go back to!

Nine people for dinner - eight entrees served. The other was supposedly dropped in the kitchen and it took almost 30 minutes for the replacement to arrive. Our server was also the owner. It took multiple requests to get side dishes and condiments some of which never did arrive. The walleye and the shrimp were dry and the prime rib... More

This restaurant has been around for many years. Primarily known for steaks and prime rib, although all the typical things to be found on an American restaurant are usually available, including seafood, etc. It could do with a little modernization, although I realize that folks resistant to change may disagree on that. Service is usually very good. Large portions for... More

Visiting from Wisconsin for a weekend getaway. We agreed that we were going good to treat ourselves to a good steak dinner on vacation. We weren't dissappointed. We went on a Friday and the offered a Prime Rib buffet for a little over $30. That created a huge discussion for my boyfriend and I to stick with our original plan... More

Skip's represented an experience. There used to be dinosaurs as well. Unfortunately, both are history. I was here for a 60th birthday celebration on Memorial Day weekend. Honestly- I cringed when I heard that was where we were going- Skip's on a holiday weekend?? It would be like waiting for the Second Coming!! I should have cringed for a different... More
